I Used The Time Art Movement I Started Over 20 Years Ago To Show Some Major Cultural Changes From Covid-19.

Who would have thought that the world shut down in 2020!

…Or that MLB would play in front of fake posters of fans in the stands!… Or that we would all wear masks in public whenever we went out! I created this Photographic Time Art Movement back in 2002 and wanted to use my style to illustrate some major pandemic cultural effects.

I created this art movement I call the “Time Art Movement” back in 1996 as paintings and then evolved it into the photographic style in 2002. I’ve noticed it has had a lot of influence on todays culture in advertising, marketing and fine art. I wanted to use my style here to show some of the different times before and after effects that Covid-19 has had on our culture.

My art is a result of over 20 years of hard work and dedication to this style. I take photos of the same scene at different times from the same exact vantage point. This allows the viewer to travel in time between seasons, different years or even different times of the same day. I also combine in focus and out of focus images of the same scene. Using the cube creates an altered sense of reality - a 4th dimension if you will. I have been creating these since 2002 and have had shows in CT and NYC galleries and museums. This style evolved out of paintings done between 1996 and 2002 and first started digitally as side by side images and collages in 2002 and quickly became 3D cubes that same year. I still produce side by side pieces occasionally as well.In addition to using Photoshop for my job as creative director commercially and producing digital art on BIC Pens distributed nationally in 1990, I have also been using the application since 1990 - the first year it was available and created some of the very first digital fine art pieces ever done with Photoshop.See more at instagram.com/randyrichards5
