My friend Ben was dying. Towards the end, bloated with steroids and medication he didn’t even recognise me. As he sat in the chair, he was sitting at an impossible angle and in my mind I could see that he was being supported by an angel.

So, I painted the scene and then scanned in that image and worked on it further digitally. It helped me cope with his death and produced this powerful image.
