In my newest exhibition, “Prehysteria”, I have created a see through checkerboard floor willed with 80 live white mice. One white mouse in each black sided square. They are fed and watered through holes in the plexiglass covering them. Visitors are forced to walk over and engage with the floor to see the entire show. To face their fears, knowing that not only are they safe, but the mice are as well. Needless to say, the reactions vary greatly. This floor is part of my larger exhibition which explores phobias, and how they connect to our prehistoric roots. The exhibition culminates with a 10 foot tall pink saber tooth tiger skeleton sculpture, modeled after the prehistoric toys many of us grew up with. Now on view through November 20th at CastleFitzJohns Gallery, 98 Orchard street, NYC.
