Hello, fellow Pandas!
It's been nearly a year since I posted some of my unique art on here and I wondered if you might enjoy a little update about what drawing ideas I have been working on the last few months.
I still draw on old books, but I have been using double pages for quite some time now, the bigger canvas leaving more room for details and beautiful drawings. :)
Mainly using black and white markers I try to tell stories and express emotions with my book art and working on those pieces really feels like cleansing my soul in a way.
So please let me know what you think and maybe have a look at my Instagram for more artwork!
Ps.: I only use books I find in free give away boxes or flea markets that are more or less unwanted. They aren't chosen by content but by paper quality and size. I use one book for several drawings, similar to a sketchbook, so in a way, those books transform to a new work of art, clean pages merging with the ones I draw on. Also, as I live in Germany, most of them are German, in case you're wondering.

Why not work from a scan or photocopy instead of wrecking a perfectly usable book?
I LOVE what you do. I have always liked old books but I live in a tiny house and have no room for them. I could never figure out useful and/or beautiful things to do with them. Thanks for the inspiration.
I love this stuff you do! Normally I would consider this a defacement, but I keep imagining coming upon one of your drawings in a book accidentally chosen..I would be so delighted.
Do u still have this? I want to buy it. My email is bobb82610@gmail. Com
Your illustrations are really cute. I like them a lot and you are obviously very talented. That's why I don't get your poor material choice... These aren't just "old books". This is literature you draw on. To be honest : I think this is disrespectful. Writers are artists as well.
I do understand your feelings, and I love books, especially old ones -- that being said, unfortunately thousands of books are dumped in landfills every day. I volunteer with my local library sorting donations for book sales and I want to save every book, but that's unrealistic. Libraries have only so much storage. Charities will only take a few boxes of books. Whatever is left is recycled. That's the best we can do.
Load More Replies...These are BEAUTIFUL! I might try this myself, there's a boot fair where I live and they leave behind unwanted books. Often in foreign languages :) and I get the whole "books are art too" thing but if they're unwanted and you can make them beautiful like this then... ^ ^
Books are just objects! They don't have feelings and can't feel offended or hurt. What this artist does is beautiful, and she reuses some paper that was going to be discarded. It's funny how nobody feels offended when "new" paper is used, even it means that lots of trees had to be cut down, but they feel offended when somebody creates art on an old book that nobody wanted and was going to end up in a landfill anyway.
