I Turned H&m Shirt Into The Piece Of Art To Spread The Message About Harmful Impact Of Fast Fashion

How many of us purchased a very cheap piece of clothing of the so-called Fast Fashion brands, wore it a couple of times then threw it away because we got bored of it and anyway it’s cheap and there is a new season is coming and new fancy clothes are waiting for us in the stores? I am sure many people can relate to this story. Because that is what Fast Fashion is – to force us to buy more and to wear it less.

We feel that we are rich and successful because we can change clothes every month but that is the brand’s owners who get richer every time we buy unnecessary clothes.

Also, we don’t see the other side of the Fast Fashion industry, not the fancy one, maybe we don’t want to see it or we don’t care where these clothes being produced, who made them and in which conditions. But the truth is that Fast Fashion brands produce clothes in Third World countries, in which workers do not get enough salary and even die trying to produce this enormous amount of clothes. And tons of clothes which weren’t sold or were thrown away end up in the landfills and pollute our Earth.

So it is really sad that people do not value what they buy and treat clothes as something meaningless

But will you treat this piece of clothing the same way if it will have artwork on it? And if you will see a real person working on this shirt and putting efforts to create it?

So to spread the message I purchased a shirt from the brand H&M (which is one of the biggest fast fashion brands). The shirt which could be thrown away by some person who wouldn’t care much about it. And I turned it into the piece of art to show that each piece of clothing, even the cheapest one, has a high value because even we don’t see the process of creating this shirt but it is humans hands that made it, it is a mother Earth that gave us the possibilities to produce it….

The idea of my design is that our Earth has a soul and with every piece of plastic we throw away, with every piece of clothing which ends up in the landfills, with every drop of oil falls to the oceans the small part of our Earth’s soul is dying, turning to the butterfly and flying away. And just imagine what out Earth will look like when it will completely lose its soul…
