Since early childhood, I’ve had a passion for deep sea fish. I was so fascinated by these scary and weird looking creatures living in the eternal darkness of the ocean.
When I reached the age of 20 I started doing fish taxidermy as a hobby. I just taxidermied common fish like pikes and monkfish, but my dream was to taxidermy real deep sea fish!
But how on earth do you get your hands on such specimens?
So I started contacting fishermen all over the world asking them if they ever caught deep sea fish…and sometimes they did. They just threw them overboard because these fish have no commercial value. So I offered the fishermen a nice sum of money if they could keep them for me.
And now, 25 years later, I have a large network of fishermen getting me all those monstrous creatures from the deep.
And even better, I made my passion into a fulltime job, and I taxidermy the fish for museums and collectors worldwide.
I would like to show you some of my work, most people have no idea what lives in the depths of our oceans and on the photo’s of my work you can see all their huge teeth in full detail.
And if you would like to see more monsters, check out my Instagram!
