I Started To Take Double Exposure Self-Portraits To Cope With A Break-Up And Now I Can’t Stop Doing It. I Asked Friends And Family To Model For Me. Working Towards A Final Image Is Therapeutic.
I can’t get into details, but I spent a few months away from family and friends. This was a situation when I could have easily felt utterly alone and abandoned. I didn’t. Experimenting with in camera double exposures occupied my time and my mind, keeping me sane. I now look back to those months as the time I was most in touch with myself and happy. Yes, people can be happy when they are single and alone. Maybe not forever, but it is definitely necessary in the heeling process. Though it sounds like a cliché I must say I came out of it stronger, and with a bunch of double exposure portraits. My friends’ reaction to those photos encouraged me to continue, now everyone wants one.
