I created these portraits in order to submit them to a competition. I crammed to get these done in time to enter, spending about 8 hours a day for two weeks to finish them all. They are drawn with pencils on paper, each measures 18” x 24”. I looked at historic photographs for reference. In the end they were not accepted by the competition but it is no loss to me. I love what I have created.
I chose the Native Americans as my subject because I have a Native American in my family lineage. I don’t know very much about this person though, so the drawings are the result of me trying to connect some how with my family history. By spending time drawing these individuals I was able to consider more closely who they may have been, what their lives were like and what we may have in common despite living in vary different times.
I hope you enjoy my collection of drawings.

Wow! First, I have to say that Native American facial features are the most fascinating to me: my soul dives into their portraits. I know most of the originals you drew here, and even though, some looked traced: I must compliment you on the details! Especially the hair and feathers! I am very impressed and see all the work, love and patience you put into it!
