I Spent Three Years On A Croatian Mountain To Make This Contemporary Rock Art
Mysterious prehistoric cave and rock drawings, small figurines and huge erected stones, along with the beauty of nature, all this is an inspiration for my artistic creation. My mediums are painting and land art, while rock art (painting the rocks in nature) connects the two.
I had opportunity to create 6.5 km long “land art trail” in Učka Nature Park on Učka mountain located on Istria peninsula in Croatia. Some of 20 art points along the trail are in rock art form. I really wanted to refer to prehistoric art, using modern materials and contemporary art expression. However, leaving palm prints on the rocks is a universal human’s aspiration which has been visible from pre-historic times to this very day.
I had worked three years on the project and spent numerous beautiful moments in the nature making art. Here are some of the resulting works presented by limiting medium of photography. The Land art trail on Učka was opened in 2016. For more info about the trail and photos of all 20 land art works, click on the provided link to my web page.
