I tried to make a ‘serious’ portrait from a local celeb in my hometown. I had him looking very serious, an in low light conditions to make the reference picture.

I think the result is awesome. Next time I’ll do a happy smiling portrait, promise!

Initial sketch, and some first shades

Added a little background, and preparations for the mustache

Roughly shading the forehead…

Trying to do the lower part of the face, hoping to keep my hands clear to avoid smearing the drawing

Finished moustache (pfff) and the chin

The final image. Now some fixative, and off to the framers!
