I Spend My Coronavirus Community Quarantine Doing A Daily Drawing Challenge And These Are The Results So Far!

I live in Italy and due to the coronavirus outbreak in my country our government issued the order to stay home as much as possible in order to protect ourselves and the people around us. As of now every citizen is allowed to leave their house only to buy groceries and medicines or for work related issues. These strict meseaures are obviously necessary in order to avoid the collapse of our sanitary sistem but it is nevertheless very psycologically difficult to cut contacts with others and to spend a long period of time away from activity that became part of my routine in the years. So I decided to start a daily drawing challenge to spend time! As a self-taught artist the basics of drawings like perspective and shading have always been quite difficult for me to grasp. I decided to devote myself to improving and keep my mind off from this drastic situation. These are my results so far. I hope you’ll like them.

RELATED:

    The flowers girl

This was my first drawing! I made a sketch with pencils and then drew and coloured with gel pens. I really enjoyed trying out this art style!

    Head in the clouds

This was the drawing of day two. I drew it with gel pens and I wanted to make something in a sort of abstract and surreal art style. I tried to portray the feeling of being lost in tought. I really enjoyed working with these colours!

    Under the rain

On day tree I made two water themed atworks but unfortunately the first one got ruined because I tried colouring it using very dark coloured oil pastels. This is the second one! I liked working on it a lot because I really love the colour blue.

    The sea witch

I started working on this on day four and I was inspired by the concept of the sea witch in the little mermaid. I really loved working with these color palette and textures and It’s my second favourite between the ones I did so far!!

    The devil

This was the first drawing of day five. I made it with pencils and gel pens and while I really enjoyed the concept I am a bit unsatisfatied with the overall look of it due to the yellowish colour of the skin and the texture of the pencil

    Halloween party

This was the second drawing of day five. I wanted to make something easy and simple and even if I was trying to obtain an Halloween them I also wanted to keep it cheerful and bright!

    Medusa

This was the third and last drawing of day five. It’s made with oil pastels and gel pens. I really like the look of the snakes and eyes but I wish I had worked a bit more on the skin appearance.

    Where there’s smoke there’s fire

This was the first drawing of day 6. I tried to experiment on more textures and it was my first time drawing smoke. I really like the outcome and it’s probably my third favourite drawing in this challenge. It’s made with markers and pens.

    The clown

This was the second drawing of day 6. I used markers and gel pens to draw it. I really like it but in the hat the colours got mixed a bit when I used an highlighter in place of a normal marker to make the light yellow.

    Floating donut

This was my drawing for day 7. I wanted to draw a donut themed pool float So this became my theme. I used markers and pens to colour it. I really like the donut elements and drawing sprinkles was relaxing and fun!

    The maiden

For my first drawing of day 8 I wanted to make a figure with a classing looking ancient dress but with psychedelic vivid colours. I really liked using yellow on it but I wish I did the colouring with markers a bit better!

    The robot

This is my second drawing for day 8. I was inspired by the robot maid in a cartoon I used to watch as a little kid to draw this one! I used pens and markers to make it and I’m happy with how it turned out!

    Red and blue

On the ninth day, so yesterday, I drew this with red and blue as my main colours. It’s really simple and geometric but I had a lot of fun making it!

    Art can brighten the world

As my tenth day drawing, today, I wanted to make a sketch to rapresent how much drawing and art helped me relax and brightened my mood during these harsh times. It’s my absolute favourite due to the meaning it has for me. I will surely continue this challenge and hope that things will improve soon. And thank you so much everyone for reading this far!

I was born in Italy and since I was little I've been interested in art and crafts: I was always watching art programs in television, buying art tools and trying new tecniques. In my early years of life I was mostly invested in glass art, painting, drawing and paper crafts. It was during middle school that I got closer to the world of assemblage and recycling: I bought my first glue gun and I started to stick different small caps and buttons to paintbrushes to decorate them. With time I've gotten more and more invested in crafts and I started to decorate mirrors, pens, photo frames, bookmarks, centerpieces and canvas. In these years I started to feel the need to develope my craft from a simple decoration to an abstact works  on its own so I created bases of cloth, wire and glue that were covered with layers of different materials. Throught trial and error I was able to improve my works and my creations started to grow in size. In these years I've also studied watercolors, fashion design and still life photography. It was in 2018 that, for the first time, I decided to join an art contest; it was the "unconventional art" contest sponsered by the Rypley gallery. Being awarded a place among the finalists of this competiton I started to rethink and redevelope my style from craft to artwork and I started to be more interested in art competitions and this brought me to join during 2019 the "unconventional duo" art contest sponsored by the "How to train your dragon" franchise where I was awarded an honorable mention. Afterwards I started to be intersted in making animal and human sculptures so I started studying anatomy and proportons and I tried to apply them in my works. In 2019 my work was exhibited in Milan for the " Swiss handmade original art contest" aften being selected by a panel of judges.
