I Self-Published My Own Book “The Adventures Of Guinea Butt And Lacy Loo” (5 Pics)
Do you ever feel like you were meant to do something but your fear kept you from accomplishing it? For the first half of my adult life, I feel like I was either distracted by people and things that were harmful or I was just too scared to take the step into believing that I could actually be a full-time artist. For the past year, I’ve been investing my time and energy into my art and I truly feel like I’ve accomplished something great. It might not be everyone’s definition but for me, it’s pretty sweet.
I have officially made and self-published my own book as well as illustrated two other children’s books. On top of being able to create beautiful commissions for amazing people.

The premise behind the story is we have two adorable guinea pigs and I personally love the elephant and piggie books by Mo Willems so I asked my kids, if the guineas could do ANYTHING what do you think they’d do? And so the book was formed!
I love that I was able to figure out an illustration style, being more of a realistic painter I haven’t tried to do many cartoons. And the pride in my kids’ eyes when they talk about their mama being an artist makes all the hours of labor with it.
I hope that those of you reading this that aren’t sure if you should chase after that crazy dream of yours can be encouraged that it is possible, it just takes a bit of faith and a lot of research lol.
