Most of us start to smoke when we are teenagers. We do it then because we think it’s cool. I was no exception. I really liked to make smoke bubbles. I didn’t have Gandalf’s skills, but I was able to make 5-6 bubbles in one blow.
As I got to my middle 20’s smoking was less and less fun. I was seeing more and more the disadvantages of smoking and less and less what I found appeling at the beginning about smoking. You know what I mean: I was tired all the time, I had a terrible taste in my mouth – especially in the morning, it was costing me a lot of money, my senses were all numbed.
Even though I found pleasure in smoking it was hard for me to quit. I felt bad about myself because of this. Of course I came up with all kind of excuses: that by smoking I had the perfect excuse to take breakes at work, while smoking people talk to each other and you find out everything this way, while smoking you breathe more deeply and that is good for relaxation.
One day seeing a kid making soap bubbles made me want to play as well so I bought a can of soup bubbles. I found great joy in playing with these bubbles so that it was how I came up with the idea of making soap bubbles instead of smoke bubbles. I found that there are a number of similiarities: in both cases you breathe deeply, you can take a breake with both of them. The difference is that people around you have a nicer reaction when you blow in their direction soap bubbles instead of smoke.
My friends found this idea crazy and cool so I was encourage by them to put my story into a book.
