I decided to photograph my pet chickens to see what their reaction would be towards the camera, what I didn’t expect was for them to pose for the pictures.
Each of my chickens have their own unique styles and personalities, I found it quite interesting to discover what each of their styles are. I spend a lot of time with them, you could even call them my feather babies. But what I never noticed was how unique they could really be.
(A/N I apologize for the blurry image) Rosie, the most chicken one of them all.
No offense to Rosie, but she is a chicken. And not in the sense that she’s an animal and that animal is a chicken, in the sense that she’s a scaredy-cat. She’s scared of almost everything. Though I still love her.
Hayli, the other scaredy-cat, though she’s more brave than Rosie
It’s safe to say, these two are probably bestfriend-sisters since birth, because they’re practically twins. Though Hayli was born a little bit earlier than Rosie, maybe that’s why she’s braver. *shrugs*
Checkers, the sassy one.
Always stubborn, if she doesn’t want to do it, you can’t make her. The boss, even if she’s about the size of a rat. A social-butterfly, unless someone gets on her nerves, then she becomes a savage beast.
Loves posing for pictures, I couldn’t get her to stay away.
But she can also be very curious sometimes, always giving you the eyeball to see what you’re having for dinner.
Kit Kat (RIP baby girl
She never really sat with the other chickens and kept to herself.
She wasn’t with us for long, a year maybe. Though I still loved her like my own.
Though she did get used to the camera in the end
Frizzly, the model.
She’s very fancy, and won’t leave the coop unless the ground is the correct temperature for her feet. She constantly cleans herself and is a bit sassy sometimes.
Hermione, the curious one.
Always trying to find out what I’m eating or doing. Follows me everywhere when I’m outside and investigates everything.
A/N (I apologize for the blurry picture, this is an old pic) Lucy (Rest in peace Lucy Lou
She’d challenge Checkers if she got out of line, but she never tried to be the boss. She was the most beautiful, kind, loving chicken I had ever met. Just like her father Fluffy, who started the ‘chicken loving’ thing.
A couple of months ago, I got a chick who I named Neo, he grew into a beautiful young man, though when Lucy started asking for hugs, walking up to me when I was talking to Neo, waiting for me to pick her up, I thought she might be a bit jealous of Neo.
Though, just a few days later, we found her in a bush, she had died quietly and peacefully, just how she would have wanted it. Turns out those ‘hugs’ were her saying goodbye. She had a good life, spoiled, of course. She was around 5 when she died, she was a strong, brave soul.
I loved her with everything I had, and she will forever be missed.
