I Photographed Millennials Celebrating Christmas With Social Media, Avocados, And Gluten-Free Cookies.

I’m a millennial photographer that loves taking photos of how my generation interacts with the world. Millennials always bring a unique spin to everything, and some of my most popular photos have been ones of millennials in funny situations.

With Christmas coming up, I set out to find out how this generation celebrates the most wonderful time of the year? What kind of modern gifts and practices do millennials partake in on December 25th? Do they even believe in Santa Clause?

I took some photos of my neighbors and enacted what a millennial Christmas would look like. From student debt to avocado cravings to an obsession with social media – these photos capture hilarious millennial stereotypes just in time for the holiday season.

I contributed the images to photo site Burst and noticed they got really popular, so I thought I’d share them here. Check out my photo-series and see if there are any traditions you can steal for your holiday celebrations this year!

Stuffing Stockers with Social Media Likes

Santa knows exactly what gift millennials want this Christmas — social media notifications. Whether it’s an Instagram like, Facebook notifications or new Snapchat followers, Santa makes sure to stay on top of the latest (and most obscure) gifts of the season.

To help Santa reach the weight goals on his fitness app, these millennials switched milk & cookies for some of their favorite treats: avocado on toast and gluten-free cookies.

Christmas Morning on Video Chat

Technology’s not so bad all the time. This family huddles around a smartphone video chat since grandma and grandpa celebrate in person.

Getting Your Student Loans Paid Off

Santa’s got a ton of surprises in his gift bag, but the biggest surprise of all: a lump-sum payment to help you settle your student loans. Well, aren’t you a lucky millennial? A true Christmas miracle!

Oh, good, another millennial talking about how "unique" millennials are. How tiresome.

Those SM likes in socks! Haha. But on a serious note - great project. Every generation is unique and photographer's job is to capture it and make it timeless.

I agree, Victoria. I'm sure a few years from now, we'll be looking back at this stereotypes and thinking how silly they really were.
