Last year I presented this painting to the Thyssen Museum in Madrid but got rejected, so instead of exhibiting it I thought of sharing it on social media. We don´t know much about the original painting nor the artist, but I can tell you about my version of it. I choose acrylic painting and a wood pannel as my tools to bring this painting back to life. The whole proccess took about two months but in the end it was totally worth it! If you´d like to see my portfolio you can click in the link to my instagram. Thanks for reading my post!!!

Retrato de un chaval by Alejandra Llano
Portrait of a man by Bartolomeo Veneto
I wonder why the artist chose to depict the subject cracking up laughing rather than with that subtle “smize” that makes the original so appealing. I like the concept a lot. I’m critical of the execution a bit but also because I don’t really understand the intentions. Being able to be critical of it is what makes it good in a way. But I do think something is lost by making the subject in such a different emotional state.
