My name is Carl Ingram and I’m an artist from New Zealand. I’ve long had a fascination with dark surrealism and horror movies, this interest has lead me to experiment and create a new way of making paintings.
The following creatures were summoned with a Ouija board mounted to a fidget spinner. I make a mixture of acrylic paint and secret ingredients, pour it onto a record that’s attached to the ouija board and then spin it. The outward motion of the spinning combined with gravity make the paint form interesting patterns. Once dry I enhance the shapes with oil paints adding depth and shading to reveal the creatures with in.
If you can think of a snazzy title for this method of painting drop a comment below. Ouijet art??

Share on FacebookFor me horror is gory & unpleasant-but this is quite fascinating to me. It really caught my attention. Brilliant use of colour, interesting shape, & love your process. They feel like they are coming out of those circular openings, as the answers come out of a Ouija board. The forms give a sense of being once rapturous & now fiendish. Real cool-great job!
