I am very inspired by nature – both its light and dark side – and love depicting this in my miniature paintings. I got into resin by accident really; I was using some paints which suggested using a top coat of resin, and the rest is history! Resin is such a versatile medium and gives an amazing shine and luminosity to my work – and most importantly is strong enough to withstand wearing as jewellery.
My favourite colours to use are the bright greens and turquoises which seem to almost “glow” as they catch the light. I strive to make scenes that are detailed close up but still give an overall good colour and pattern when viewing from afar.
I’ve had a few interesting commissions and it’s always such a joy to make something special for someone or for an occasion. Besides, jewellery, I’ve been asked to paint accessories such as belt buckles, phone cases, compact mirrors, and cufflinks. The scenes on the cufflinks are the same as the pendants but in miniature -so the birds are about 2-3mm in size! The smaller the item, the more I seem to relish painting it!
