My name is Evan Stoler and I am an artist who aims to make the mundane mystical through repetition and developed textures and patterns. The following collection, “Remnants,” is scheduled to display at Petshop Gallery in Omaha, NE in the months of May and June. Featured are ten 8″ x 8″ wood panel pieces in white floater frames and two 24″ x 24″ pieces on wood panel made with industrial strength glue and built to last.
Some themes I explore with the collection are: how what society views as trash have inherit value and beauty, a reflection of the gambit in which humans manipulate and control food aesthetics, and I want the viewer to contemplate themes of persistence and even the afterlife.
The materials, once part of a thriving organism, continue to age and offer meaning after being devoid of the cellular physicality that would warrant them alive.
