We lost so many amazing people in 2022. I do tribute portraits for a living so when someone in the public eye passes, I do my very best to do an illustration to honor them. Below are some of my memorial portraits from 2022. They will all be deeply missed. And I know I missed a few, but I did my best to do as many as I could.

Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid) - October 14, 2022
Some of the major influences in my life include my high school art teacher - Mrs. Timmer - she taught me so much and always encouraged my "artistic license". My college art teacher - Mr. Lynch - he introduced me to so many amazing artists and movies that started to shape my artwork. It might not look like it, but my two favorite artists are Basquit and Paul Klee.
Queen Elizabeth II - September 8, 2022
Angela Lansbury - October 11, 2022
I do tribute portraits for a living. I get requests and commissions daily from people who have lost loved ones and want a unique illustration to pay tribute to them. I do tributes to mothers, fathers, aunts and uncles. Brothers, sisters, best friends and sadly lost children. Pet tribute portraits are also a very common request as losing a pet is like losing a best friend and family member. After doing those all day, if someone in the public eye passes away, I do my best to pay tribute to them as well - making the tributes warm and happy and peaceful - which seems to really help people remember how incredible these people were and how much they meant to us as a society.
Emilio Delgado (Luis) - March 10, 2022
Olivia Newton-John - August, 8, 2022
My wife always says: "I don't know how you never get tired or never run out of ideas" - I basically do artwork from sun-up to sun-down and have since I was a little kid. I don't know what to do with myself if I'm not creating art.
Leslie Jordan - October 24, 2022
Taylor Hawkins - March 25, 2022
I'm extremely lucky to have a very positive community of people who follow my work. With so much ugliness and negativity spewed in our faces all day every day on TV, online and within social media - I only want to make people smile and forget about all of that for a few minutes. It's very rare for me to get a negative comment - (it happens, but I just ignore them) so I feel very fortunate to get to do this for a living.
Ray Liotta (Field Of Dreams)
Bob Saget - January 9, 2022
I've been drawing since I can remember - my first love was the pencil. I did pencil illustrations until I went to college where I learned Photoshop and eventually Procreate. I do also really enjoy watercolor, although I rarely paint anymore.
Meatloaf (Michael Lee Aday) - January 20, 2022
Bob Mcgrath - December 4, 2022
What motivates me the most is simply creating something that can put a smile on someone's face. Doing tribute portraits comes with a lot of extremely sad and heartbreaking stories and they come to me to heal - even if just a little bit - and if I'm successful at my task, and I receive a nice message, it makes it all worth it.
Stephen "Twitch" Boss - December 13, 2022
Coolio - (Artis Leon Ivey Jr) - September 28, 2022
When it comes to the finished product. I generally can picture what I'd like to accomplish in my head before I start, so to see the work in it's final form is what I enjoy the most - the process is fun, but the result is better.
Kevin Conroy (The Voice Of Batman) - November 10, 2022
James Caan - July 6, 2022
So, the night he died I wore my Elf gown to bed for like a Christmas in July type of thing...did I accidentally unalive him?!?
Jason David Frank - November 19, 2022
Estelle Harris (Estelle Costanza On Seinfeld) - April 2, 2022
Kirstie Alley - December 5, 2022
Bill Russell - July 31, 2022
League record 11 NBA titles in 13 seasons. League record of 22 rebounds per game. This man was a true athlete and team player.
Louie Anderson - January 21, 2022
Louise Fletcher (Nurse Ratched) September 23, 2022
When she won an Oscar for her performance, she signed as well as spoke her acceptance because both of her parents were deaf.
Tony Sirico (Paulie Walnuts From The Sopranos) -July 8, 2022
Nightbirde (Jane Kristen Marczewski) - February 19, 2022
I remember … Simon Cowell cried when he heard about it. I bought her single “It’s Okay” from Apple Music, as it helped inspire me when I had to fight to get my prosthetic leg. I’ve no doubt this young woman will be remembered as an inspiration to all. RIP, Nightbirde. Soar high, sweet angel. 😔💖👼
Liz Sheridan (Helen Seinfeld From Seinfeld) - April 15, 2022
Where's Nichelle Nichols? Uhura from Star Trek passed on July 30th this year.
I actually did her and forgot to add her to the OG post Nichelle-N...5c4ee0.jpg
Load More Replies...We have lost so many incredible people this year. Wow. Queen Elizabeth for God's sake!
Yes we have. I smiled knowing Luis from Sesame Street, the Green Power Ranger, and Mrs. Potts were no longer with us but always apart of us and our childhoods. But then Robbie Coltrane made me cry, Hagrid is one death that will never leave me
Load More Replies...Irene Cara, Sidney Poitier, Jerry Lee Lewis, Hilary Mantel, Jean-Luc Godard, Mikhail Gorbachev, Sally Kellerman, Ivan Reitman, Monica Vitti, we've lost a lot of celebrities this year...
Sally "Hot Lips Houlihan" Kellerman?! Ahhh dang it.
Load More Replies...I did a portrait of the great Nichelle Nichols from Star Trek and missed it when making this article. Nichelle-6...90d2db.jpg
She died on December 31st, 2021. I did think about adding her but technically, it was not 2022.
Load More Replies...That woman had a voice like warm honey. It was such a joy to work with her and that smile that lit up her entire being.
Load More Replies...Great work, congratulations. I would add Christine McVie, Irene Cara, Jerry Lee Lewis, Anne Heche, Ivan Reitman and Sidney Poitier as other notable artists who passed away this year.
"Great Balls of Fire" ...can't believe JLL is gone. That man was so funny and so talented, and a maniac at his piano. Heck, I could barely play sitting still at keyboard that that man practically danced on it.
Load More Replies...Loads of people that brought joy to me as a kid and an adult went away this year. Somehow it’s making me feel alone…
These are so adorable and now I am so sad for all those we lost this year...
These are absolutely gorgeous tributes to some amazing people. Thank you for sharing!
These are wonderful, you're so very talented. Thank you for sharing~

What a touching tribute. Well done, OP. I love your artwork, and the concept is so lovely it made me cry.

i would have loved to see technoblade, but great job on all the art!
Unfortunately we aren’t done for the year. Late entry - Edson Arantes do Nascimento (Pelé) died yesterday, December 29th. He was, and still is, the greatest footballer of all time.
@Martin: Add Pelé to the list... king of the beautiful game passed away today.
