While planning a trip to Barcelona, numerous people told me to watch out for the large number of pickpockets that inhabit the city. Thinking of ways to avoid theft, I devised a way to exact sweet revenge on anyone audacious enough to try and steal my hard-earned money.
The result is this decoy wallet that has a couple of diabolical secrets hidden inside. This idea is just one of many in my ongoing project called Obvious Plant.

Load More Replies...Pedro is right. The main thing is not to dress like a tourist because tourists are the target. Try and dress like a local, it is not so difficult. Take with you every day no more money than you will need. And, incidentally, in Barcelona there are no more pickpockets than in any other city of the world.
"No more pickpockets than in any other city of the world" - OK, so why is it in the top 5 in Europe? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-3423066/The-five-European-cities-likely-pickpocketed-avoid-victim.html
Load More Replies...I prefer the idea of wearing a handbag full of actual s**t. THAT is genius.
they honestly wouldn't give a c**p and just trash this and go for the next victim
I see you have never encountered glitter before. There were some at a new years eve party at my house seven years ago and although I moved twice since then I still find fragments of that s**t here and there.

and then you accidentally pick out the wrong wallet.... "EVERYBODY DANCE NOW"
it's called common sense...went to New Orleans during Mardi Gras a few years ago... phone and wallet in one pocket and underneath my palm. they'd have to hold my hand to get it. not a single cent was stolen from me, although i could feel someone pawing at my backpack at one point (only had a spare change of clothes and umbrella and cheap things like that in it so nothing of value could have been taken)
so you're telling me I should go around with my pockets full of glitter living in terror of being robbed come on guys get your s**t together.... you make Barcelona sounds like dangerous or something I never felt safer and I can say I've been in few places in my life
I DO NOT FIND ANY NEED TO SAY BARCELONA, THE CORRECT WOULD BE "CITIES WHERE YOU ARE TOURIST". TOURISTS IN GREAT ABUNDANCE ATTRACT THE PRESENCE OF PROFESSIONAL THIEVES AND THEY ARE FROM INTERNATIONAL GROUPS OF SLAVES, OBLIGATED TO THE MENDICITY, PROSTITUTION AND SALE OF DRUGS THAT ARE IN ALL THE CITIES OF EUROPE.
Get hold of some cyanide powder and sprinkle that on the inside of the wallet, they are bond to put their hand to their mouth some time in the day, that should teach the light fingered bastards.
I have been living in Barcelona for almost 10 years now, and have never been pickpocketed, and from safety point of view I can and have walked in many types of neighbourhoods even after midnight without any problem or fear whatsoever, and last: I read that pickpocketing has been addressed more intensively and strictly in the past 2 years and it has been decreased by 40 %.
I do not understand the purpose of the author: he wants to donate a purse with a musical greeting card? Or what?
They will steal your wallet, and open it only when they are far away in a safe place, never around you!
I don't think any of them understand a word of english. Just avoid gypsies (men and women) and try to don't look so tourist. Pay special attention in Ramblas and in public transportation.
Or a mouse trap in the wallet. :D Can still add the bunnies and music.
I like the song 'Everybody dance now' by C and C Music Factory though.
Creator is assuming that a pickpocket will open the wallet as soon as they pick it. They won't, they'll put it in their own pocket and casually walk away until they find a safe place to open it. No use at all
Doesn't matter when they open it. Just that they do.
Load More Replies...maybe they shouldn't take things that don't belong to them in the first place...and if anyone deserves to be 'p**s' it's the person whose personal items were stolen
