In high school I was really lonely and whenever I found new friends, I would do anything to keep them. I started hanging out with two girls, Madison and Riley, that I saw as my best friends. They seemed to put up with me for longer than the others would, so I let them treat me terribly. But there was one time when they totally crossed the line and I still can’t forget it.

Share on FacebookOh god this really hits home but it was my daughter going through this. My daughter has Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD. She found it really hard to make friends except for one girl. She was no friends, of course there were moments she was nice. Most of the time she was manipulative and mean. She would ditch my daughter, call her a r****d, scam money from her, play mind games etc. It was the only person she had, so no matter how many times we tried explaining the way she was being treated she couldn’t stop the “friendship”. This year they started high school and they thankfully go to completely different schools so they never see or hear from each other. My daughter has made quite a few friends, she is enjoying high school far much better than primar school.
Katharine Hepburn wrote in her autobiography that when she was in school, she had a crush on a guy who did not have the same feelings, and that she was devastated. Her mother told her "If he had a good taste, he would like you. Obviously, he has a terrible taste, so why would you be with a guy with such a bad taste ?" I feel that the same goes for people in general, not only crushes... If people don't like you, well, they have a terrible taste and you don't need people who don't like you for who you are !
I did this in Middle School. I was so lonely, I let the only "friends" I had treat me like garbage. What a horrible time. Hopefully some young girl or boy will see this and not have to experience what the author did
