It was my 49th birthday and some friends and I hiked into Pololu Valley. Pololu Valley is located in Kohala on the Big Island of Hawaii. It was a 6 mile round trip hike, since this was my first hike ever, I thought I was going to die by the time I was hiking out of the valley. We were hiking through the jungle and parts of the rain forest.
The views were breathtaking! I am so glad that I made the hike.
I hope these group of photos will take you on the hike with us.

Looking into the Valley
This is the view from the start of our hike down into Pololu Valley. We hiked down to the beach, crossed the sand and then up to that clump of trees on the next ridge.
On the Beach at Pololu
Here we are standing on the black stand beach that is down at Pololu. The view is so beautiful. Now to hike up to that clump of trees on the ridge.
Looking back into the Valley
Standing on the beach and looking back into the valley. The view was so peaceful.
The valley ridges
The many different valleys and ridges that you can hike to in Pololu Valley.
From the Bench
Seeing this view from the end of our hike was well worth the 3 miles up the cliff to reach it!
The hike back
If you look closely you will see a building and a road on the far ridge. That is where our cars are parked and now we make the journey back to the starting point.
