I Hand Make The Most Awesome Realistic Christmas Tree Decorations With Clay, Inspired With A Festive Food Twist
Every Christmas for the last 4 years I’ve been working hard in my ceramics studio, in Nottingham, to design and make the quirkiest collection of Christmas Tree ornaments. Each December I look forward to launching a new decoration, and now the collection has developed into a stunning and eclectic array of ornaments. I enjoy using a food theme for the objects to celebrate the dazzle and lustre of eating together at Christmas and the decadence of the food. I also explore less traditional delicacies, such as Chicken nuggets and drumsticks in my ‘Dirty Decorations’ collection, which are golden lustred in a tongue in cheek fashion. In all collections gold lustres are used to add sparkle and elegance to the decorations. The items are moulded and cast from real food, then hand finished, painted and golden lustred in 3 kiln firings. It’s a gorgeous collection to design and make and is the highlight of my year. During this Covid-19 Christmas I hope that this collection of happy Christmas tree decorations will bring joy and sparkle to families, like mine, who are missing eating with loved ones.
