I Encourage Myself Through My Artwork That Helps Me Control My Depression And Anxiety
I’ve been battling with depression and anxiety for a long time. I finally accepted them when I started living alone and had the space to think about myself and my future. I was pushed by my loved ones to go to therapy as I was hurting a lot inside. I also had a big fight with myself as well because where I come from, going to therapy meant you were crazy or weak. Luckily, I convinced myself and went for help. Each session passed and each session unleashed a feeling I kept hidden and locked inside of me. As I was alone and was uncomfortable at expressing my feelings through words to others, taking my counselor’s advice I started doing some artwork-series that acted as personal therapy. I took some time off of my schedule only to talk to myself and express these feelings through art and digital brush strokes. After completing each art-piece, I was left with a feeling filled with warmth and courage.
Each of the pieces tells a bit of a story of mine and I realized this series also connects with another people’s story. As it did to me, I hope each piece will leave you with warmth and courage.
