Whenever I am in a waiting room, airplane, transit or just bored, I let my mind wander and doodle in my sketchbooks or on any paper on hand.
I almost always use Sharpie fine point pens and have them and a variety of sketchbooks in every purse, bag, and backpack I carry. I use watercolor a lot in my book when Urban Sketching, but rarely for these doodles.
There is no plan. Sometimes I illustrate dreams, sometimes imagery from books I am working on seeps in, and sometimes the sketches are influenced by whatever is on my mind at the time. It is how I deal with the craziness in this world.
The compulsion to draw them that is hard to control (I have no willpower to resist).
