My name is Christine Rozina, I am a german artist.
I used to be a graphic designer for many years. 2D surface design of printmedia was my daily work. But, at some point, I wanted to explore my sculpting skills.
After a period of experimenting with materials and techniques I found my favourite sculpting material: Books.
The soft touch of the paper, the cutting edge showing the line case, typographic text fragments, the infinitve variety of appearance and the fanning is fascinating to me again and again.
I make a new binding for each book I transfer into a face sculpture, to make sure it has the measurements that I intend.
I study human faces from real persons, photos and human anatomy books. The Old Masters paintings and sculptures are a great inspiration for me.
