In 2005 I decided to have my very first art show. I wanted to also create a challenge for myself at the same time, because I somehow thought just putting together your very first art show wasn’t difficult enough. So, I decided to create 100 paintings in 100 days. If you ever want to see what you can really do if you put your mind to it, commit yourself to an insane task like this one. I exhausted myself but also learned so much. I continued to show my work and was able to leave my full time job to pursue painting full time. But 10 years was coming up from the anniversary of that first show. My art style had evolved so much since then. I have since become much faster of a painter, but my work is also much more detailed, I wondered if I would still be able to pull a feat like that off. Still, for the anniversary of that first show, I wanted to do it again. The second time around definitely wasn’t easier, I would actually say it was much more difficult. My attention to detail and not being able to let a piece go until it was where I wanted it to be, made me work long strenuous hours for 100 days straight. But in the end I was glad I did it again. It reminded me of where I started, and how you need to push yourself sometimes. But at the same time, maybe not push yourself this hard and overwork yourself to the point that I did. I definitely had to take some serious time off after this show. So the next 100 paintings in 100 days? …maaaaaybe in another 10 years.
