Collecting is one of the ways of self-expression and identification. You can understand the preferences, tastes, worldview of its owner by the collection.
For many people this hobby has not monetary, but emotional value. These items help to maintain a connection with their childhood and youth, to overcome the anxiety associated with the break with the past. Some people are attracted to the excitement and the hunt for something unique.
When I was a kid, I was also a kind of collector. I collected various old postage stamps and handmade clay figurines. The very process of collecting always evoked a lot of emotions that made me feel fulfilled. It’s an indescribable feeling.
Now that my work is directly related to creating potential collectibles, namely making glass figurines, I increasingly ask myself, “Why don’t I collect my own work?”
I am certainly proud of them, they are like my children, I am their creator, yet none of my popular glass spiders adorn my shelf yet.
But what about other people’s shelves? You know, my customers often share with me pictures of figurines that have already arrived for them. some people just amaze me.
If you take a look at the photo below, you’ll see for yourself.
I would be happy to get feedback!
