I am sending painted envelopes to people around the world for free to lift spirits during the Covid-19 pandemic. I paint one to two envelopes every day, working through addresses in the order they were received. So far, I have mailed 200 artful letters. I share an image of each creation on Instagram (@postalartforall) and identify its destination country so viewers can keep watch.
I am still accepting addresses, including international destinations. If you don’t mind the long wait, I don’t mind adding you to the list! To participate, email your mailing address to postalartforall@gmail.com. The wait will likely be over a year, ensuring a delightful surprise when you least expect it.
I wish to spread joy, make art accessible, and help us connect in a time of isolation. Mail is the perfect vehicle for my project because everyone loves receiving a personal letter. It is a small gesture with a big impact. Envelopes are mailed as-is, with the painting on the outside, so postal workers can enjoy the whimsy along the way.
I am an artist and illustrator based in Portland, Maine. My project, Postal Art For All, is made possible by a grant from the Awesome Foundation, Boston Chapter. It is also funded in part by a grant from the Maine Arts Commission, an independent state agency supported by the National Endowment for the Arts. Thank you to friends, family, and participants who have donated stamps!
