I Adopted A Cat In February, And He’s Been Posing For Photos Throughout The Pandemic
The shelter where I volunteer had a special low adoption fee throughout February, and since I’d been considering adopting a cat, I took that as a sign it was time to get one.
I’ve never had a cat before, so it’s been a learning experience for him and me. As the pandemic has greatly reduced my other daily activities, it means that the kitty and I are together almost all day every day.
He loves attention and is comfortable in front of the camera, and taking photos counts as giving him attention, so when the light is right, I do so. He’s got a knack for striking cute poses, and sometimes almost seems like he’s mugging for the camera.
Because his coloring lends itself well to black & white, and because removing color also keeps the background from distracting the eye, I’ve converted many of his photos to B&W.
So here it is: Monochrome Mikko Mania!
One of his perches is next to the kitchen window, where soft light comes in all day
‘The flop’ is his way of saying ‘aren’t I adorable?’
He loved his cat bed for the first five or so weeks, but hasn’t used it since
He’s doing the “Girl With the Pearl Earring” pose here
