Being creative is like going on an interesting adventure, and everyone goes through it in their own unique way. However, there are some challenging parts along with the enjoyable ones. Bored Panda recently spoke with Deividas to learn more about his creative journey. We wanted to find out about the difficulties he encounters when being creative. For the artist, the most challenging part is keeping the initial idea and trying to look at it from different angles. On the flip side, he enjoys the early stages of coming up with an idea. "When it's still in the sketch phase I have a lot of room to brainstorm before the idea gets solidified."
Deividas is a self-taught artist, so naturally, we were curious about the key lessons or insights he's gained that he believes have significantly contributed to his growth and success. The cartoonist shared, "To have fun when creating something. I learned if I enjoyed creating a comic other people would enjoy looking at it."
Combining clever wit with a hint of dark humor, Needle Wig comics stand out for their unique flavor. We were eager to have Deividas guide us through his standard creative process, from idea generation to the final comic.
"I pick a topic that interests me, then I try to look at it from different angles and after I pick one that makes me laugh the most I start a sketch phase. Loosely drawing characters/environment, trying to figure out where the focal point should be. Then I fix the rough sketch by correcting the composition, scale, and basic structure of the characters and environment.
Once everything is in place and looks clear I start drawing smooth lines on top of the sketch that's acting as a guide line. Then I add 50 to 100+ layers in Photoshop to decide what color palette I should go with. And once I'm done with it I choose a light source.
And at the end, I add shadows/mid tones/highlights."
Deividas invests a considerable amount of time in perfecting his craft, spending anywhere from 5 to 10 hours to complete a single Needle Wig comic. He's always trying to find the fastest and best way to create a cartoon, saying, "I'm always trying to figure out the most efficient and quickest way to make one."
I see the light color of el depreso followed by anxious, horny and cranky
I have this trait so bad, does it have a name I wonder?? ...*3minutes later*... Ok I googled it, it's called "low self esteem".
Is it me, or does all the censored swearing make it look a bit immature?
Welcome to Bored Panda lol. The censoring does get a bit intense at times, but I've learned to ignore it.
