Life is full of ridiculous and unreasonalbe situations that are not that easy to notice if you take things too seriously. Fortunately, there are people who can draw attention to the absurdity of everyday life, offering to laugh it off and move on.

One of those people is an artist who creates humorous comics called "Modern Sulking". According to him, these illustrations are about "procrastination, insecurities, passive-aggressive rage and other stuff that life consists of." Not only they are fun but also comforting for those who have experienced something similar.

Characters in the comics are hard-to-describe beings who appear in different surroundings. Be it work, a bus stop, or even a circus, there's a pinch of absurdity and awkwardness everywhere.

P.S. The artist informs us: "any resemblance to any vegetable, fruit or geometric shape is purely coincidental."

The artist shared with Bored Panda that he has always enjoyed comics and has been low-key doodling on his own for a good while. "Years ago I submitted a few single-panel comics to some contests in magazines and whatnot. Before, I kind of just put the whole idea on the shelf, and I’ve been procrastinating and overthinking ever since. But now I’ve finally found the motivation to go ahead and put it out there."

"I've been a fan of comics for as long as I can remember, and I've had ambitions to create my own for just as long. Those plans have been kind of hindered by a cycle of procrastination, so nowadays, being able to produce something, anything, motivates me in itself. In other areas of my life, I usually work on longer-term projects that can take a good while to see the light of day, so it feels extra productive to be able to publish relatively often. Comics are probably the perfect medium for me to tell (pointless) stories."

We got curious about where the "Modern Sulking" creator gets inspiration for his illustrations. The artist shared that he gets ideas from pretty much everywhere. "A lot of the comics are about awkward everyday interactions between people. Some of those are rooted in my own social anxiety, others are inspired by observations of weird interactions between other people. It's fun when things don't go as planned in situations where there are clear expectations of how we're supposed to behave."

"The characters have existed in my head for some time. I have a pretty clear idea of what their personalities are like, and that’s all there is to it, really. Visually, I wanted to keep everything as simple as possible, much like webcomics such as Hyperbole and a Half, Poorly Drawn Lines, Webcomic Name and others. I love all of those."

It makes the artist extra happy when people pick up on whatever layers he has attempted to bake into the jokes. "If it can generate a laugh or two, I'll be more than happy."

What do you think? Did the comics make you grin? They sure brightened up our day!
