This Comics Artist Illustrates Absurd And Fun Situations (30 New Pics)
Interview With ArtistNo doubt that we here at Bored Panda like a good laugh. Nothing pushes aside gloomy Monday clouds better than a few jokes and puns here and there. That's why, today, we are more than happy to share some uplifting and humorous illustrations by Dieter Bevers (aka Quatsch), a freelance cartoonist from Belgium.
Dieter's hallmark is witty single-panel comics, usually depicting absurd and ridiculous situations in the human or animal world. People seem to be enjoying the comical universe the artist has created a lot! Dieter hit the 5000 Instagram followers mark in January and is very close to reaching 6000!

Bored Panda contacted Dieter again to get to know more about him and his journey toward becoming a comics artist.
Dieter shared that he studied animation at the LUCA School of Arts in Brussels, Belgium. After his graduation, he worked for a short while in advertising, making short animated commercials for TV. However, what encouraged him to create cartoon drawings instead of animated cartoon movies was the annual Cartoon Contest of Knokke-Heist (Belgium), in which the artist won the second prize in 2005.
As Dieter previously revealed, he finds most of his inspiration for cartoons in real life, though reality in his comics is a bit distorted; human behavior is mixed with animal behavior, some real-life facts are turned into something funny and absurd or some things are taken too literally, which creates a comic effect.
When asked what Dieter would want people to take away from his cartoons, he answered that he thinks of himself as an entertainer: "I just want to make people smile. So if people think one of my cartoons is funny then that’s mission accomplished."
When it comes to creating comics, Dieter's goal is to get published in a(n) (online) paper or (web)magazine on a regular basis. He also plans to open an online T-shirt shop where people can order T-shirts with his cartoons on them. So, if you're interested, keep an eye on Quatsch's Instagram page and website!
