sure, but liberals are considered, here in africa, to be conservative. They support "equal rights" and "voting rights" but only so long as it does not affect or impact on their lifestyle at all. They stand for equality as far as it allows them to still have a domestic servant and gardener. Once they can't afford that, miraculously they become anti the minimum wage legislation. Liberals are not really left-wing, they are centrist. They are also patronising as all hell. We prefer social democrats like Bernie and AOC.

Let's see. There is the 'trad-values' conservative that yearns for the Golden age of 1XXX with its social order of white men on top, everyone else is inferior. (This does include some religious conservatives.) The religious conservative come in two flavors, those adhering to the Prosperity Gospel (the more money you have the more Jesus loves you and rewards you with money) and the 'only MY religion is the TRUE religion' group. There are other groups where 'we are superior' can be found of course, but including them can be confusing since they can spread across political and social boundaries. Liberals and atheists , both separately and combined, have had a couple of spectacular (viewed from the inside) blow ups in the past decade over similar issues.

Not all straight people, mind you -- only the conservative ones. They're relentless, even when they begrudgingly toss us a few crumbs, like serving us a meal before taking our money and telling us to never come back. Like refusing to recognize our marriages as real. Like trying to strip us of all the rights you take for granted every single day. Why? Because they think I'm equal? No, because they think I'm... Conservatives uniformly think that (a) things mustn't change. (Conserve the status quo). That's what it means. From that, it means (b) retain religion, and (c) retain racism and structural racism. NOW, since racism is predicated on the view that some people are inferior, or do not deserve equal life quality, it follows that conservatives ipso-facto think some people are inferior. Consider for example conservative vitriol against homeless people. Clearly, they are labelled "lazy' or "drug addicts" or some other marker of inferiority, because conservatives do not want to understand how structural racism OR capitalism caused these situtations. Hence, again, conservatives ipso facto DO think some people are inferior and "deserve" inferior life chances.

No, pretty and conservative ≠ "Karen." Though the origin story she describes very closely fits people I know who could be described as "Karens" They were raised in an environment which endowed them with the belief that they are absolutely superior to other groups, and when treated reasonably by "lesser" people wind up with their panties in a bunch over how unfair it is for them to have to be reasonable. Is it possible that you are so offended because you're used to seeing this from the other side?

I dont think it's condescending, it's an interesting theory on how Karens are created. Because as an african, I can tell you, most white women over 30 think they are god's gift to mankind and above being nice to anyone, especially persons of color. In my 50 years of life, I have met precisely three who were not like that.
