It’s outrageous that we live in a world where mass shooting victims have to pay for their own treatment, and we still feel pride in this system. I’m not on Meta. How do we begin to address this issue? What should our goal be?

Well, not killing CEOs, for one. Nothing will get accomplished doing this. There will be those next in line to take the position and business will continue on like it always has.

You need a better strategy and hit the insurance and medical corporations where it hurts the business the most. Where the money is and their power. Their power is not in integrity and reputation. That's already in the shitter.
The power is in how the laws work in their favour.
Look there, and look at the people these corporations have lobbying for them.

You need to band together in large groups. I don't mean go rioting or start protesting in the streets. That hardly works. More people get hurt doing that.
I mean in a large group make some noise. Overwhelm the system. Make them work more trying to address your demands until they give up.

You mean besides congress actually fixing the problem in a timely manner? Haha, I think the trigger for it is going to have to be a catastrophic collapse of the economics of it. I'm sure there are many things that could contribute that. It would be rough though because it makes up about a fifth of our entire economy but the wastefulness of the system is just terrible and sometimes the whole system just feels like a scam.
