How 7 Paintings Helped Me Not Bump My Boss With A Chair

In the fall of 2021, there was a lot of work. It felt like I was falling apart like an old ship. But the wind blew into my sails and did not allow me to stop to close up the holes. Then I took paints and began to paint. This gave me a welcome stop.

“To yourself. Gently” is a series of works on the confrontation of a man and society. We live in a social environment. We are part of a complex world and feel its pressure. We need this pressure as the force of gravity. However, a man tends to increase it following someone else’s “must”.

We must be successful. We must be slim. We must be young. These “musts” as stones fall into the river of life. If a person is strong, the waters of the river of life will find a way or destroy an obstacle. Nevertheless, there are times when each of us may be weak, vulnerable, and defenseless. Then the stones fallen can block the path of our development or divert us off the original route forever. The human soul strives for self-expression, but cannot find the strength to overcome the obstacle.

In the series of paintings, I say that you need to calculate your strengths, listen to your inner voice and appreciate the simple pleasures of life. My purpose is to motivate a person to get out of the daily race.

To stay. To listen.

The choice. We do not have the track that society has intended for us. We can learn new things. We can drastically change activities. We can look for our way for decades, find it and be happy

The fine thread. We fear death not so much of our own as of our loved ones. We are not ready for it, but often we cannot do anything. Our chance is to take care of ourselves and appreciate every moment spent with our loved ones

Instead of a thousand suns. In the modern world, live communication is becoming rare. We tend to communicate not with words, but with likes. We see and hug each other once a year. Living in the light of gadget screens drains us, saps the soul. Moving away from people, we move away from ourselves. After all, we can only learn something new about ourselves in communication with another person

The beginning. Each of us feels lonely inside. Everyone wants to be understood, wants to find someone who would see the world in the same way. Unfortunately, this is unreal. Sometimes each of us finds himself or herself without support or protection. Someone learns to live with it and becomes stronger. Now they themselves can become a tower of strength

The touch. We all sometimes want something more. More than simple pleasures of life. More than the achievements recognized by others. Some people call it the path to God, others – the search for destiny

What do you see when you close your eyes? What happens when everything is over? No matter how gently we treat ourselves, life will leave us one day. Is this going to be the end or just the beginning? What is everyone going to leave behind and do we need to leave behind anything at all?

Before breathing in. We desperately run for approval. In this race, we forget about miracles. Billions of fortuities coincided to give us the opportunity to breathe in again. Every single moment of our life is a miracle

In my oeuvre, I explore interrelations. Nothing ever happens by itself. There is always something between two objects, no matter how small or large they are. People call this something “attraction”, “indifference”, “opposition”, “love” or “hate”. However, this is nothing but interpretation. People's world, the world that we observe, perceive and conceive, is the world of relationships. In my works, I strive to capture the fine thread that knits together all things, to follow its trace, which is twisty, tangled, but never ending. Either during life, or after it. I want the onlookers to take the silence with them after watching the work. The silence that is the beginning and the end of everything that was and that will be.

Hey there, Pandas! My name is Diana (though some prefer to refer to me as Diane, Deanna, and even Liana sometimes), and I am a Community Post Moderator Lead for Bored Panda. As my position title states, I am one of the people (employed Pandas for bamboo) over here who work with the community side of things on this website to ensure all is well, and while at that, I also help various creators and artists get recognition for the incredible work they do by connecting them to a large worldwide audience. Other than that, outside of work, you can find me brewing a nice cup of coffee, making a pizza from scratch, or baking brownies. I also love traveling, concerts, and cats (heavy on that, because I am a cat mom).
