Taste is subjective… up to a point. When it comes to fashion, there are some design decisions out there that might just make most of you Pandas recoil in horror. And these fashion disasters, or as we so lovingly call them, ugly dresses, get shamed on the popular Facebook group, ‘You can’t just slap some fabric together and call it a dress.’
And they’re right; you really can’t just slap some fabric together and call it a dress. And the proof is the photos from the group that we’re featuring today, dear Pandas. Scroll down for the cream of the crop, the worst of the worst of ugly dresses, be it ugly prom dresses or ugly homecoming dresses.
As you’re scrolling down, don’t forget to upvote the pics that you enjoyed the most, whether you loved the sheer horror of these ugly dresses or you’re actually a fan of the designs. And if you’re interested in swimming in some more bad taste, why not check out Bored Panda’s previous article about the Facebook group? It’s a cut above the rest with a myriad of ugly wedding dresses, dubious fashion choices, and designs gone awry.

What is the Definition of Bad Fashion?
As we’ve mentioned earlier, taste is a very subjective thing. That said, bad fashion can still be defined in a pretty concrete way.
According to the general consensus on the Internet, bad fashion can be described as a style that sticks out like a sore thumb on a given occasion or environment or one that is considered horribly outdated and unflattering.
On the other hand, bad fashion can also refer to style choices that are overly flashy or serve as a means of obvious attention-seeking. And let’s not forget inappropriate or offensive clothing!
So, basically, if you’re looking to avoid a fashion disaster by unintentionally picking an ugly prom dress or an ugly homecoming dress, stick to universal fashion guidelines, and you’re good to go!

What Fashion Trend Should Not Come Back?
While recent years have shown us some excellent trend examples incorporating organic materials into everyday clothing and comfortable (finally!) shapes of clothes that do not restrict movement, there was a decade that was notorious for horrible fashion trends. Oh yes, we’re talking about the Noughties! Although some fashion trends were quite alright, there were trends from the early ‘00s that should never come back.
Here are some of them:
- Capri pants — not really pants, not really shorts!
- Low-rise jeans — inappropriate, horribly uncomfortable, and plain hilarious.
- Dress over jeans — it’s like they couldn’t decide which garment to wear, so wore them all at once.
- Velour tracksuits — nope, they weren’t fancy.
- Micro miniskirts — it was almost impossible to tell whether it was a belt or a skirt.
We’d also add those ugly sweater dresses to the list of fashion trends that should never come back. They were shapeless and oddly uncomfortable to wear! And if you’re looking for some truly horrible fashion decisions made during the noughties, search for ugly wedding dresses and ugly bridesmaid dresses that people deemed okay to wear during the early 2000s. They were truly shocking with their tackiness!

Obviously People With More Money Than Me Don't Have To Move Their Arms
I Hope Everyone Can Agree With Me On This One
What sort of magical glue is that? Where can i purchase it? Could it hold together my life? What about dreams and hopes?
I just couldn’t leave the house so exposed, and with the realistic possibility of a very embarrassing wardrobe malfunction, even if I had a perfect body. Putting everything on display isn’t sexy. It’s actually just trashy, and kind of pathetically desperate. Don’t let the guys gaslight you into thinking going around nearly naked makes you a strong and secure woman. They’re just saying that to fool you into wearing revealing crap like this. Being more covered—-yet confident, really interesting, alluring, and someone everyone wants to know—-and leaving what’s underneath up to the imagination of anyone seeing you, is way way sexier than going out in public nearly naked.
I couldn't agree more. I really don't know how some women got duped into thinking wearing super revealing clothing is in any way empowering.

If your clothes have to be held up with tape, they are not clothes!
This was in a youth magazine in late 90'. The caption said "it's a victory if carmen electra wears anything at all". I though she was total badass. She's an fashion icon.
It's not for me, but I actually think she looks amazing. Sitting down for dinner in this is prob a no-go tho.
Load More Replies...Yes you can see the "invisible" tape under her arm.
Load More Replies...This kind of dress makes me think that someone has convinced her that all she has going for her is her body. Sad.
Carmen (her actual birth name) "Electra": A name given to her by none other than Prince (his actual birth name). She has much more going for her than her body.. Sad that you don't know or care.
Load More Replies...I wonder, do women design clothes like that for women? Does anybody design clothes like that for men? I feel like the fashion industry is nothing but hypersexualisation of women, while perpetuating the idea that the "perfect" woman has the proportions of a 14 year old boy. And so we are left with celebs wearing clothes are just make no sense.
Oh for heavens sake....just cover the nipples with diamonds and you’re good to go....lol
omigod she TAPED it- you cab see it on the second photo...imagine TAPING your DRESS to your BOOBS... I would die.
This was Carmen Electra, in 1998. Kim Kardashian just wore a copy of this dress, only tighter, last week ... April 2022! I kid you not!
I've seen dresses that need to be taped like this done better with different material like lace or embroidery
Is that sellotaped onto your bøøbs?? Honestly, from the side, it looks like earphones. 😅
Tell me you had a boob job without telling me you had a boob job...
Do you ever look at someone and wonder: "What is going on in their head!?" -Insideout
Imagine Googly eyes on the Boob Strip...can't unsee the googly eyes googling every time she walks.
Really good double sided tape. I can never find any that really sticks like that
Carpet tape is for your boobs what gorilla glue is for your hair 😉
Load More Replies...we all can forgive that always beautiful girl... she's ok also with a garbage bag! ❤️❤️❤️
What the fu***ng heck? It’s probably gonna fall off. If I was her, I wouldn’t want to show my boobs to everyone. That’s just weird
How is it even staying on? Like you bend over/ sit down for two seconds and everything from waist up is exposed
I bet it will hurt when she tries to take it off for all the super glue she used.
I really thought this top would end in a pair (pair? too generous) of c-string bottoms
I wonder if she considered she is showing her plastic surgery scars to everyone?
I’m waiting for the day (night?) some bimbo finally just shows up all out naked, maybe some pasties with designer logos and charms dangling from her pubic hair so a designer can take credit….
Hmmmm....I can see some thought went into it but maybe they ran out of material!
Holding up well, wonder she will remove the super glue from her breasts later.
Can someone please explain the point of this abomination!?!? Why bother!?!? Go topless!!!
I get the idea they were going for, but couldn’t figure out how to finish it.
The seam in the upper part looks terrible. As if she had an udder, not a nipple.
Why hang this rag on yourself when you can dress like a million bucks? I don't get it.
When you want to go topless but you are on the wrong side of the beach
I hope everyone appreciates the fact this poor woman didn't eat for a month prior to this event
She has a concealed arial for the hidden radio/TV/computer/phone connection she can't live without. If a boyfriend ever hugs her he will be skewered/microwaved at the same time . . .
What's not to like? Hmmmm.. The hypersexulisation of women?

We get it; there are times when you need to whip out your tackiest outfit and stun everyone with your unique fashion sense. Take, for instance, an office Christmas party where you’d like to wear an atrociously ugly Christmas dress but still look stylish and elevated while doing so. And that’s completely doable if you were to follow these styling pointers:
- Mix and match — if it’s the dress that’s the ugly component of your outfit, you might want to match it with a demure jacket or a sweater to neutralize it a bit. This rule works with just about any piece of garment you deem as ugly.
- Accessorize — sometimes, a stylish accessory can elevate your outfit so much so that nobody would even dare to call it ugly any longer.
- Tailoring — the most common problem making a regular dress into an ugly dress isn’t its design but rather an ill-fitting tailoring. If you like the dress but don’t like the way it looks on you, try bringing it to a seamstress to fit it better.
- Embrace it — one man’s ugly is another man’s unique! Embrace the quirks of your outfit and turn them into a fashion statement.
- Personal style — all in all, fashion is a very subjective thing. If you feel confident in the clothes you wear, then it is the most important thing!

How Can I Look Beautiful in Every Dress?
It’s always about feeling your best and your most comfortable, rather than adhering to any specific beauty standards! Of course, we have some tips prepared for you on this topic, too. By following them, you’re sure to look stunning in anything you choose to wear:
Flattering styles for the win! Always choose garment styles that compliment your figure and are well-tailored. For that, understanding your body type (pear, apple, hourglass, etc.) might be very helpful.
Find your color match! Color theory is not just a theory - it’s something that truly works. Find the color that compliments your skin tone, eye color, and hair the best, and see how good they look on you.
Be confident! Sure sure, confidence might not always come easily, but if you love that dress and it makes you feel like a million bucks, then wear it with no regrets.
Everybody is unique! Wearing the same things store mannequins wear might be trendy, but let’s admit — it might not be totally you. Search for your own style and own it because being you is the most important.
Feedback time! If you have friends or family whose taste in fashion you trust, always seek their feedback or advice if you’re lost in style choices. Who knows, you might come up with fun new outfits working together!
And lastly, you can always use the ugly dresses on our list as an example of what NOT to wear!

That is absolutely the truth! Some of them are insisting that they are "creating Art" & a few have even admitted their designs aren't meant to actually be worn.
Load More Replies...I just could not look at all these. Gave up after about 20. Truly ugly outfits; so sorry for the models who had to parade in them. (But not sorry for anyone wearing one by choice who thought it was just brilliant!)
Many of these dresses look like stuff worn at fashion shows or big events. In other words, not for everyday wear. Still make me wonder about the designers, though.
I think these designs are from a bunch of rich artists and designers with nothing to do, so they make these "clothes" with the intention of making an art statement rather than making actual clothes you could buy in stores.
They do it for the free publicity -- and considering they've even got people on Bored Panda talking about it, I guess it works

I’m sure some designers just like to stick! For these aren’t just UGLY, they are nutso!!
That denim mess wasn't quite as bad as the hideous sheer pants the guy next to her was wearing!
Now I have something to show friends and family why I say I NEVER follow fashions.
The runway ones have been hilariously ridiculous for I-don't-know-how-many years now. Nobody wears those. I would be interested in photos of bad dresses people actually wore voluntarily (or which were spotted in a legitimate shop). But if we're going for runway dresses, these are nowhere near the worst ones.
I don't understand the objective of this post. Why should we be encouraged to shame anyone? Personally, I wouldn't ever want someone to feel ashamed, embarrassed, incompetent, or not good enough for something as trivial as the clothes they wore or made. Too many of us get enough of that in our day-to-day lives. Instead, the shame should be directed at BP for such a thoughtless post.
Fashion shows always have ridiculous designs. The idea is to promote a trend, so, like one part of the outfit.
So you dream of working as a model, because they get to wear fancy clothes? Maybe you should look at this… You know it’s always nice to have a plan B
Do they call it "high fashion" because the people that design it are high when they do it?
It shouldn't matter what someone is wearing. Finding fault in a piece of cloth is insane. I don't know why people do this!. Is it to make you feel good about yourself because your tearing someone else down? I want to understand but it's senseless.
No one’s thinking less of the models because of what they’re wearing, just laughing at the clothes themselves. The fabric is fine, it’s the way it’s put together and the fact that it looks ridiculous that people are laughing about. Just like laughing about badly designed buildings that have stairs leading to nowhere or stuff like that.
