Hong Kong’s Shocking “borg” Cubes: Homes Of The Poverty-stricken

What is the average size of the houses in the UK? What about 90 sq m? Sounds right, doesn’t it? It would be enough for 4 or 5 rooms where a family will have enough space to function properly.
But, what if I tell you there are thousands, even millions of people who live in extremely different conditions? We are talking about less than 10 sq m where your whole family should live. Sounds terrifying, right? The sad truth is what is terrifying for you is a reality for many others. Meet Hong Kong’s cubicle disastrous homes.

It's really easy to look down from a life of privilege and be shocked by this. You need to realize however that if you're poor, these are actually pretty darn good. A sturdy roof over your head with basic amenities for a (I would hope) cheap price. In many other countries where cheap housing is non-existent you have no choice but to live in a shack built from salvage. Basically, those little cubes may be cramped, but it's still a much better way to treat low income earners. I applaud whoever built these.

I see no difference between these people and some caged animals. This is truly outrageous, but we can't do much I guess - just feel sorry for them.

It's very good you have informed people of this. I've seen some other cities trending in this direction.

This is a disaster. And here I though rooms in Islington were a rip off.
