Like in many cities in the Western world, there are currently thousands of homeless people in Brazil. This population includes families, children, young people, the elderly, lonely women, and men. Many of them have been homeless for years, with no prospect of getting out of this situation. In many ways, the condition of homeless people in Brazil is practically identical to that of homeless people in other big cities in the world: it represents hopelessness, social invisibility, and absolute isolation from the rest of society. But there is one aspect in which the homeless population in Brazil stands out from the rest: most of these people live with dogs that also live out on the streets.

All of this post makes me happy and sad at the same time. So glad he has a S.O.
Many have lived on the streets with their dogs for years. These animals are cared for with the same dedication as any other person who has a house and a stable income. The deep relationship formed between these people and their dogs is unlike any other and therefore it is extremely revealing.

There is a social project in Brazil called "Street dwellers and their dogs." It promotes actions of love, respect, and dignity for the dog and its tutor as a homeless person. This project was conceived by pet photographer Edu Leporo, who, in 2012, started photographing and writing about dogs and their guardians on the streets.
He released his first book in 2015, which started the creation of a social project. The project offers the dogs food, veterinary care, baths, and parasite control among many other things. For the person caring for the dog, they provide showers, breakfast, and distribution of personal hygiene kits as well as backpacks for their things.

I was homeless and had a dog before he was adopted by others. He was wonderful and very protective of me

There’s a symmetry to these relationships. The dogs need the people, and the people need the dogs. Homeless or not, it’s wonderful they found each other. They’re helping each other survive, and the loving bond they have with each other is just as plain as day.

I don't usually say things like this - I love artistic photography and people and dogs, and these are beautiful photographs, but I didn't like this. It felt exploitative. I'm sure the photographer didn't mean for it to be, but it just feels a bit wrong to me. I'm sorry for being negative, I'm just curious if anyone else feels the same.
