With the motto 'designed to be deleted', Hinge is a dating app that aims to foster more meaningful connections between its users. However, since around 20 million people are using it, you won't always find what you're looking for; you can't hit it off with everyone.
Just as with Tinder, this community also has its subreddit. The aptly titled r/HingeApp is a place where folks come together to request a profile review, ask for advice, and share their romantic experiences.
Interested in the latter, we at Bored Panda put together a list of screenshots that we believe perfectly illustrate what dating in 2023 looks like. Continue scrolling to see if you agree!

This Is Literally All You Need To Do After A Less Than Ideal Date. Takes Just A Minute And It’s Far Better Than Ghosting
Hinge Matchmaking Is Unrivalled
In 2022, three-in-ten U.S. adults said they have ever used a dating site or app, identical to the share who said this in 2019.
However, online dating is more common among younger adults than among older people. About half of those under 30 (53%) report having ever used a dating site or app, compared with 37% of those ages 30 to 49, 20% of those 50 to 64, and 13% of those 65 and older.
She Did Not Match
Since I Absolutely Hate Ghosting
Udderly Absurd
Men are somewhat more likely than women to have tried online dating (34% vs. 27%), as are those with at least some college education when compared to those with a high school diploma or less.
Not surprisingly, adults who have never been married are much more likely than their married peers to report having used online dating sites or apps (52% vs. 16%). Adults who are currently living with a partner (46%) or who are divorced, separated, or widowed (36%) are also more likely to have tried online dating than married adults.
I Found This Response To Be Quite Clever
There’s A Lot Hinging On This, Grace
The Only Response, Right?
Pls Confirm
Tinder tops the list of dating sites or apps and is particularly popular among adults under 30. Some 46% of online dating users say they have tried it, followed by about three in ten who have used Match (31%) or Bumble (28%).
OkCupid, eHarmony and our beloved Hinge are each used by about a fifth of online dating users. Grindr and HER are used by very few (6% and 3%, respectively) but are more popular among LGB than straight adults.
I Feel Like This Is The Only Answer I See To This Prompt
I Just Had To Make This Prompt Into A Meme
I’ve Never Been One For Conspiracy Theories But He Has A Point
So, A Kinda Hot Guy Responded To My Profile Video. I Matched Right Away, But Went To Bed. I Woke Up To A Notification Of A Response From Him, But His Picture Changed And He Is Definitely Not The Same Guy. I’m Kinda Being Mean About It But I’m Just Really Annoyed
As you can see from the pictures, the online dating landscape is hard to describe. Among those who have dabbled in it, slightly more say their personal experiences have been very or somewhat positive than say they have been very or somewhat negative (53% vs. 46%).
Are There Other Reasons?
This Is Why I Have No Luck On Dating Apps Isn't It?
Hahah Made Me Smile
Play Stupid Games, Win Stupid Prizes
Among current or recent online dating users, 54% of women say they have felt overwhelmed by the number of messages they received via these services, while just a quarter of men says the same.
By contrast, 64% of men have felt insecure because of the lack of messages they received, compared to just 40% of women who could say the same.
Ladies Don't Do This. Atleast Have The Balls To Cancel
Who Did This Guy Wrong Lool
I Don’t Think I’m Going To Match With Her, But I Couldn’t Resist Making This Joke
The Guy's A Sex Symbol
Most U.S. adults are skeptical about dating algorithms being able to predict love. Only one-in-five adults (21%) think that these computer programs can determine whether two people will eventually fall for one another. Much greater shares of Americans either say these apps and websites could not do this (35%) or are unsure (43%).
If I was to choose a side after scrolling through these images, I would probably have to agree with the latter group.
Probably Won't Get A Response, But I Love My Clever Responses

That Phone Must Be Super Slow To Charge! A.k.a. The Absolute Audacity
Maaaaaaybe, the other person had to order online and there was a delay in shipping? I don't know. Sorry, just throwing darts in the dark out there.🥴🤦🏻♀️
If You’re Not Matching, You’re Learning
I hate it when people screenshoot replies they haven't sent. "Look at this hilarious thing I'm not actually brave enough to say..."
Ahh One Of Those Girls
Wtf Is Wrong With People. Jesus
I Have A Pic Of Myself Dressed As Dr.phil On My Profile And I Don’t Think My Matches Are Prepared For My Equally Weird Responses
She Also Did Not Match
What Would You Have Done If Your Date Took Almost An Hour To Be There, When Plans Were Set At 8pm?
I'd consider waiting if there was a good reason. Having to get gas is not a good reason and the phone being on dnd does not affect arrival time.
A Match Made In Mediocrity
Day 2 On Hinge For Me... This Is A Joke ...right?
He Asked Me Why I Haven’t Visited The City Much This Past Year
How Quickly The Conversation Turned 😂
Figured This One Was Worth Sharing With Y’all
Nope.. 🏃🏻♀️🚩
Half of these make me feel like maybe I have a chance and the other half just give me the fear about meeting folk ach well it is what it is
It’s so much better to meet a person in real life! I know it’s harder, but people have done it since the dawn of time, and the situations present themselves in much the same ways as always. Mutual friends, coffee shops, fellow students, etc. Statistically, those relationships are much more likely to last than those formed at the online buffet. Good luck! I hope you meet someone amazing.
Load More Replies...Don't want to be cynical.... But I've only heard of hinge from ads on BP and now they're appearing as content?
yea its been about for a year or so, marketed as a dating app designed to be deleted since its focused more on getting people to form relationships rather than one night hook ups
