Malaysian makeup artist Saraswati, also known as Queen of Luna on Instagram, is an uber-talented cosplayer who can turn herself into just about any pop-culture icon you can imagine. From the classic but oh-so-overdone Disney princesses to more unique and surprising characters, Saraswati's transformation skills have to be seen to be believed - she really is a magician of makeup!
Bucking the trend of constantly attempting to make everything 'sexy,' Saraswati, who is a Muslim, incorporates her modesty into her looks with the clever use of her hijab. It's fair to say that people are loving her creative efforts - she now has almost 400k followers on Instagram who eagerly look forward to her latest look.

Wow! @Rachel Cobb, it's much more than just a little too good! I love and believe in her talent and art that there is no room for doubt! At the top of the page it does explain you'd have to see it to believe it, she really is magically talented and it shows it even further with this one because of the gloss and contour etc that she puts her time and talent into. We obviously haven't seen her full potential! I'm sure if she wasn't a Muslim she would have put make up on her body to look just like the clothing! She's great, in every aspect of the word!!!

Doesn't making the hijab look like hair completely defeat the purpose (hiding ones hair)?

It does, the stated idea of hijab in the Koran is to not draw attention to yourself, which is the exact opposite of what is being done here. Having said that, using a veil as a fashion accessory is quite common. For some people its about identity rather than religious conviction.

It's a common thing in Malaysia. Since many Indian-Malaysian bring their religion and culture to the country, some other Malaysian adopt their culture also. It's a multicultural country that respect their fellow citizen no matter what their race and religion.

And, what about the women who choose to wear them? You know, for religious reasons? Why do people think it's okay to dictate how others choose to wear their religious symbols? I would suggest you ask these women how they actually feel before assigning them their emotions, and assuming you know everything about these women's choices.

as a non religious person l have no problem at all with women wearing the hijab..what l cannot stand is the burka..we as humans communicate verbally about 50%, but part of our speech is visual too..we communicate with our facial expressions & with our hands..how can you hold a conversation with somebody who's face and hands you cannot see ??, and my apologies to those with vision impairment..

I love the creativity and pure talent of all of these. I guess I don't understand why dressing up like demons and evil gods is ok, but exposing your real hair is a sin. Religion is weird.

Oh my gosh, this makeup art is seriously good. She is so creative at using the hijab and is so talented. Her eyes and freckles are just so beautiful and the makeup really distracts from the fact that the rest of her body is covered.

It is beyond problematic when people create pictures and even articles like this, attempting to normalize the Hijab, an instrument of oppression and a way to hold women back and keep them down. Its not cool on any level. And her religion would NOT be okay with any of this either. So... the people who see the Muslim religion for what it truly is and the people who follow the religion as well would both have a problem w this. She should use her makeup skills to do something worthwhile because she does have talent. Of course, just wearing this much makeup and being this good at it is a problem for their religion too...

You mistaken Islam with Arab. Those are two different things entirely. She's a Malaysian muslim with her own culture that is very much different than Arabian culture. For example, her name "Saraswati" is actually the name of Hindu Goddess. There are no "struggle, hate" or whatever you think she's been through each day for being Malaysian muslim. The only hate I see is your comment.
