Who in the music world inspires you?

#1

REM. When I first heard them I was 12 and they were fairly new. The guitar, the way the singers voices compliment each other, the way the words drew an abstract picture in my mind that, over the years, has touched me in different ways. There are songs I’ve listened to over and over at certain times in my life. Their activism seemed to exactly coincide with my own as I grew up and became ecologically aware.
When they broke up I honestly thought I wouldn’t ever have a favorite artist again. Of artists still making music, I love Cage the Elephant. They have such a varied sound that you can tell what headspace they must have been in when they made that album. I listened to Social Cues and immediately said, “Someone is getting divorced.”

I had about three different REM songs as my ringtone when I got my first flip phone :)

Clean Bandit, the members don't just create a wonderful song but also with an awesome underlying inspiring message, same goes with BTS, they rose from dust to a majestic pillar.

I have so many to choose from:
U2
Linkin Park
Dave Matthew's Band
Phil Collins
Peter Gabriel.
Eminem
Snoop Dogg.
Some of these artists' music has a good beat and some of the music has gotten me through tough times. Linkin Park helped me understand that feeling depressed wasn't a bad thing. It is so sad what Chester Bennington felt he had to do.

Lizzy hale.
Because she is a women who sings rock n roll one the best to me.
She sings about things related to how women feel but never say out loud, things men don't like them to say.
She is awesome.

I don't have just one! Let's see, there's Zendaya,
Sabrina Carpenter,
Sofia Carson,
And a whole lot more, who I can't think of now, but most certainly will in the middle of the night, and regret everything.

Hozier. I love his voice it’s so powerful and he’s one of the few artists that I can just listen to full albums of his. Most all of his music is fantastic.

Take me to church. I’ll worship like a dog. At the shrine of your lies. I’m taking my sins, so you can sharpen your knife!

That's a loaded question.
I have to go with Floor Jansen because she's the ultimate powerhouse.
Kongos. Their beats slap.
Delerium. Their sounds just transport you to another world.

Dropkick Murphys. Amazing Celtic punk. Own all their albums and have seen them in concert 10+ times. They do amazing covers of old folk songs as well as original stuff. Can't wait for their next album based on Woody Guthrie's lyrics.

Ok, this is hardly going to be original. I love so many artists for so many reasons, but if I had to pick one over all others, it would be Madonna. She has provided me with literally a lifetime of great music. She's never been boring, she's always evolved and changed, and her social stances have literally changed the world for millions of people. She blazed a trail for thousands of artists after her. She really doesn't get the deep appreciation that she deserves.

I decided that narrowing down my choices to one is unfair so I'm adding a whole list of bands and artists that no ones probably ever heard of ( or care about ) but fk it , here's a short list of bands and songs worth listening to - Band maid: dice / the non fiction days. Necronomidol: psychopomp / ritual / strange aeons. Passcode : bite the bullet. Gothminister: darkside. Motorhead: no voices in the sky. Babymetal: megitsune. Chelsea wolfe: be all things. Eleanor: greed. Newtown neurotics: fighting times / the mess / this fragile life. Bridear: ghoul. Scandal: harukaze. Ghost: witch image. Stereopony: overdrive. Faun: walpugisnacht. Billy bragg: saint swithins day / between the wars / a new England. Burst girl: nancy. Hysteric lolita: voice for voice. Maliklia: inverse. Pricilla Ahn: fine on the outside. Chumba wumba: this girl / homophobia..... I could go on but i won't....so many great unknown bands, so little time...

The Beatles. I didn't care for 50's style music, but then the Beatles came on the scene and everything changed. They inspired me in so many ways. I began to write poetry, my drawing took a serious side (bless you Klaus Voorman for the cover of Revolver), their comments and viewpoints made me think and realize I could, and should, form my own opinions. They opened doors for me I never dreamed exsisted. Freedom to think, to speak, to stand up for what I believed, no matter the consequences.
And they were my first live concert. August 27,1964. Four amazing men.

Sabaton. They've been getting a lot of hate for some reason unknown to me, I discovered them when they were on album no 2 or 3, I like almost all of their songs. What gets me is how they bring history to life, how uplifting some of these examples of history are and they give me an Iron Maiden vibe (at least the historical songs of theirs) which I love as well. Looking at them or hearing a song without actually *hearing* it might give someone an impression they are a generic metal band, thus the hate I guess

Imagine dragons
Disclaimer: not because of the vulgar joke about their name
1 I’m a white boy and it seemed obligatory at first but now it’s actually true the I enjoy every song by the
2 the sound of all their songs is different (a lot of singers sound like the same song but diff words- not them)
3 you can tell how genuine the feelings of the songs are and connect with the singer an a personal level I’ve not found anywhere else
4 it helps me focus on my work and not get too stressed out either!

Sorry for a long explanation but it was needed

Cosmo Sheldrake! He is a British music artist and collector of musical instruments. The general feeling of his music is almost indescribable, like the alternate universe of a Disney movie, but generally earthy and intricate.

Hands down, Siouxsie and the Banshees. Their earlier stuff saved my life. And the music takes you on an interesting journey, if you really pay attention to the lyrics.

Nat King Cole. I grew up listening to his songs because of my dad. His voice is so effortlessly velvety smooth.

Helloween. One of the most legendary metal bands. Glad I got a chance to go to their concert.
