We ordered takeout from a newish Thai place in town, it was awful. $65 down the drain, I felt so disappointed after wanting to try this place for months and finally getting the chance. Tell me, what was your worst experience?

It wasn't the worst but more the funniest. I pull up to this pizzeria and there is no customers just the guy behind the counter. It's a slow area, not much people so I don't mind. I order a veggie pizza so the guy was like, "ummm...that would take a little longer than usual" so I agree, I wasn't in a hurry. I leave and sit on the benches they've got outside. A minute later the guy walks out of the restaurant, locks the door and drives off. So now I'm beginning to think...."what's happening here". It's not a bad area so I stick around for a few minutes until his car pulls up and he jumps out with a supermarket bag. He's like, "time to make the pizza!". Apparently he didn't have the ingredients for the veggie pizza (it's a menu item but apparently not a popular one) so he had to go buy it at the supermarket. Twenty minutes later, I had my pizza.

This was 15+ years ago, so not a pandemic response. Went to a traditional/chain pancake restaurant for breakfast with 5 friends. It was crowded, so no surprised that our order was taking a long time. When the order came, not a single meal was correct, and there was no silverware. Twice promised that silverware was coming. More food came to correct some of the orders, promised credit to bills for others, but still no silverware. By the time we got silverware, some food was cold. Bills handed out, no credits, asked to speak to a manager. Someone different came to the table and told us all bills would be corrected at the register. Different person at register refuses to make adjustments for no-show items. The person who told us adjustments would be made at register comes up and tells us all to get out immediately, and we don't pay. I assure you this was not a belligerent group of folks - in fact, we asked to go back to table to leave a tip and were again told to leave immediately. I don't know what happened that day, but I've never been back to that chain.

Wow! There must have been a lot going on behind the scenes

waiter walked up to my table. i told him he could go do his work as i intended to take my time choosing my order. he shakes his head and just stays there. i take my time. he still stays there. i politely repeated my demand - he may leave until im ready to order. he clicks his tongue and scream-reads the menu for me. i told him i can read it myself, thanks, u may go. HE STAYS THERE. the oven back at the kitchen beeps. he slaps the table so hard that it shakes and yells, "another client's food is burnt and its all ur fault! always wasting my time." and runs off.

well, its safe to say i ran the hell outta there never to be seen again.

And here we see a rare example of asking to speak with the manager and it not being "Karen" move.

Too many to mention, but the worst was a local pub. We'd taken mum out for mothers day and had booked this Gastro Pub because of their menu and there had been no mention of it being changed for this day.

We arrived and they'd put a set menu in place so that they could cope with the demand of all the diners. The place was packed. We were really disappointed as we'd all decided what we wanted to eat off the original menu and nothing on the set one seemed as good, but we all ordered. The food took nearly 2 hours to arrive and as we were starving, we just shoved it down our throats. It made an re-appearance later on for everyone. Complained and got offered a voucher to come back - NO THANK YOU

A lot of restaurants have reduced menus for holidays or special events. Sorry you got sick. It's the fault of the restaurant owner or manager. If it takes that long to get your food, they over booked or understaffed or both.

Not bad, per se, but odd. We had a favorite Italian place one town over that we adored. Excellent wine selection, pastry chef who would provide an array of dessert specialties every night and a chef who is a maestro of authentic Italian food. Our last dinner there was just...strange. There were no tablecloths on the tables. No other diners. The main menu was much smaller but still had our favorites. But when we asked for wine, the choices were "red" or "white". When we asked for a dessert menu, our choices were "vanilla ice cream" or "chocolate ice cream". Not long after, the place closed. Years later, we met our waitress from that night who told us that the owner was trying to pay his vendors in gift certificates by the time of our last meal there. Happy ending: the chef from that restaurant opened his *own* place in our town. So, we can enjoyed what we missed most from this restaurant - the food.

Not too bad, but I was annoyed.

I was at a store to pick up a couple items and since it was lunch and the store had a cafeteria, I thought I was would get a little something for me and my kids. I ordered a hotdog, a slice of cheese pizza and a fountain soda. The pizza and the soda were ready but the hotdog was yet to come. There was a guy just beyond the counter putting together hotdogs. He just kept putting a bunch of hotdog in the buns without stopping or putting them in orders. He had a pretty good stack there. He turned around for a sec and asked if he could help us. I told him we were just waiting on one hotdog. He tells us that “Your number will be called when your order is ready.” He could have easily given me my hotdog, but instead we waited another like 5 minutes.

Came across a waiter once that, when he asked us how we wanted our meat cooked and we said 'medium rare', he claimed there was no such thing, it was either 'rare' or 'medium'. When we insisted (we all worked in the hotel and restaurant industry at the time and had ordered meat done 'medium rare' several times before) he left and chose to ignore us. Since nobody else showed up to take our order, we left and went to a different restaurant.

We went to a well know pizza chain before the cinema. We'd left plenty of time before the film (2 hours). We ordered starters and mains (the pizzas). Waited around an hour and they brought the pizza. We then had to explain we hadn't had our starters. We would have been happy to skip the starters but 3 of the pizzas were incorrect and the one was correct one was burnt, so we sent them back. Then waited another 40 minutes and they brought our starters. Mine was only dough balls. We no longer had time for our pizza so we ate our starters, paid for them and went the cinema. Did not leave a tip for service as we didn't get any. Less than "express" service on that visit. 😂

Whole family went out to eat for dinner. I got one of those fried shrimp with fries kids meals and my sister got a sandwich with fries. She pours ketchup on her fries, and hands me the bottle. I pour ketchup on mine and something comes out of the bottle. Mom looks at my fries and calls for the waitress. We realize that someone had put a cigarette in the ketchup bottle. Sis and I got new meals from it.

My ex and I had gone to this new restaurant to try it out. They weren't busy by any means. Took 20mins just to get a drink order. We ordered an appetizer (which was the best part of the meal). Our salads came on our main course plate, which the plate was hot, so the salads were not only hot, but had juices from the meats and veggies from the main courses. The server was practically non-existent. The M.O.D. comped the meals. I paid for the appetizer since it was pretty much the only thing they got right. Worst 50mins of dining I ever had.

We went to a local indie diner for lunch. Until this time, we had loved having breakfast there on weekends. We got a waitress who was the most sour, nasty person who let us know in no uncertain terms how much she hated her job, her life, her whatever. The place was *not* packed. It took so long to get our food (2 simple sandwiches and sodas) that we got a ticket on a one-hour parking meter. We've never been back, but joke about it when we try to decide where to go to eat ("Darling, we simply don't have the time to go to [Nasty Diner]!".

We got seated and then no one ever showed up to take our order. I assume it was a misunderstanding of who was assigned which table, but we waited over 20 minutes and no one ever came over to us. We walked out and went to the restaurant next door and got our drinks and food ordered within 3 minutes. I don’t blame them as I’m sure it was a simple mistake, but it was definitely annoying watching people that came in after us get their food when we never even got to order our drinks yet.

It was one of the last time me and my sister and my mom and the kids sat down at a restaurant to eat food and it was at IHOP right by our house and the waiter bringing the food spilled all the food on me and no we didn't get it for free we still had to pay even though it was his mistake for spilling the food on me. It was everybody's food at our table that landed on me at least it made my mom laugh though.

We went to a nicer steak restaurant that is part of a chain and always gets great reviews from our friends and family who live in different cities than us. The particular location in our city was terrible. We sat at the bar and ordered food and drinks from the bartender who managed to forget our drink refills as bring our steak and salmon dinners completely burnt. Husband had ordered medium rare steak and my salmon was crunchy. Apparently he forgot about our food under the heat lamps and they were burnt beyond repair. No apology or anything and we still had to pay for it. I was immediately sick when we got home and my husband was pissed off. We have not gone and will not go back to that place again.

Flew cross country to celebrate my Scuz (sister cousin) birthday. We. went to a new $$$ restaurant. The list:

Party of 8 would not get seated until the entire party was present.

Brunch was at start at 11 am. Guest coming from out of town so requested to be seated again. Refused per “policy”.

Music was so loud you couldn’t hold a conversation. request music to be turned down (ears bleeding) ignored my mgr so went to DJ. Lowered to concert level.

The place was bathed in a black light and a club vibe. Remember this is a Brunch.

1 guest got a skinny highball watered down Ice Tea for $20!

Guest straggled in and finally got seated with 15 minutes to order. Pissiosity is crawling up my back.

Seated in front of kitchen, register and rest room!
Even though request to move again refused.

Orders taken from a pissed off waiter ( having to serve a party of 8 late maybe)

Orders was missing, undercooked and totally unappetizing.

We are all hungry because we were going to a Brunch.
We stayed.

No one got drinks but we had to ask for water and you thought the waiter had to go to the well to fetch it.

I getting angry and my Scuz touched my are which my cue to calm down. It’s her Bday so I chill.

I ordered the black pancakes cause I’m adventurous like that. Under that purple light it left a lot to desired.

Our mediocre meal was shitty to say the least.

Party is blowing up social media!! If you know my posse we are brutal!

We have had enough so I call the mgr over and point out our experience and get the check. I wanted to see what I was paying for.

Then my friend who is a local shows up late as the check is coming and is hungry? We are all done with the day and she (who wasn’t there) starts complaining about service.

once the check comes, charged for food we didn’t get, undercooked or just plain bad!

Late GF grabs the check and I grab it back as the day was in me. This pissed me off more!

Once I saw the check it was $180ish and I told mgr to delete all the items that were unacceptable.

Late GF doesn’t stop talking about the situation and was pissing of even more. Scuz gives me the arm signal.

Check arrives and there is a $50 gratuity! I tell the mgr that I don’t pay for not poor but shitty service. Take it off!! By the time I had decimated the check it was $70ish!

Wanted to speak to the owner but he had disappeared.

As we are leaving the late GF has not stop talking.
I snapped and tersely ask her to stop talking and all of my frustration spilled out. I was upset that the day was trashed, my Scuz’s BD was horrible and I’m still really feeling bad and embarrassed that all the friends and family were treated so badly.

I didn’t mean to attack her in front of everyone but I couldn’t pull it back.

Everyone on in the party froze and all the side conversation stopped.

I had crossed the tact barrier and walked away to calm down. I didn’t talk to said GF for a month and I know I was out of pocket but there were other issues with GF that had happen earlier.

Went to another place to get some decent food and everyone would rehash the event. I don’t a pic of the black pancake ( I have >than 1000 pix).

Thank goodness my posse were cool and we ended up having a great weekend!

Not so much bad experience in the restaurant, but probably one of the most lackluster meals I've ever had. Bought from an Irish Pub here in Canada right around the winter time of last year. Ordered what was called an Irish Mac, basically a Big Mac, but with fresher ingredients, and a Poutine.

Placed my order through Uber Eats, and I was waiting for the order. It was expected to show up roughly 45 minutes later. Came a little later than expected, which is to be expected during the early re-opening for restaurants after a few lockdowns.

After receiving the food, I opened it up, and it was a really small burger and fries (For $25 Canadian). After reheating the food in the microwave, due to it being colder than an icicle, the fries were not seasoned whatsoever. The sauce on the burger had no flavour, and I found some cook's hair in my food.

Also checked out that restaurant afterwards to leave a review. Not only did they temporarily take down a bad review I left, but a few local news articles I found from them showed that the owner made racist comments/remarks to a few customers, but they were also finned for breaking COVID-19 mandates against restaurants.

This was years ago for our anniversary (I can't remember which one). We went to the Keg for a nice steak dinner. The waiter accidentally dumped his entire tray of plates filled with food on me. He was so embarrassed and apologized over and over again. Fortunately, the damage wasn't too bad. I got some food in my hair and a stain on my brand new dress. The manager came out and said they would pay to have my dress cleaned (it was a dress you could throw in the wash, so I didn't need that and told them). So, we expected (since they kind of ruined our anniversary) that at the end of the meal, we would find it comped. We get the bill and not even a free dessert or free drinks. Nada. We never went back.

But... the comp was offering to have your dress cleaned, which you turned down. I certainly wouldn't expect a free meal. Accidents happen. It's not as though the waiter purposefully threw food at you or that you had been hit in the head with an errant plate.

They served our drinks to another table. It was 100 degrees and we were parched. We left immediately.

A sandwich restaurant charged you for everything you added. INCLUDING THE BREAD.
