We've probably all had times when we've said something we shouldn't have or thought we were talking to someone else. Maybe you misunderstood what a stranger was saying to you, but what's your most embarrassing moment on the telephone?

When I was at university studying to be a teacher, I had a phone call at home (this was in the days when landlines were still the most common type of phone). I answered it and a voice asked me "Can I speak to Mr ..." in a very posh English accent. I suspected straight away that it was one of my friends who was always looking to make fun of people.
I answered, in the same accent as his, "Yes, this is Mr ... speaking." "Hello, I am calling from X school and you applied for a job with us."
I froze, realising my mistake and feared that I had offended him by copying his voice. I had to quickly get to the real conversation and try to speak to him as normal, while all the time thinking "Just go away!" My accent returned to its normal one and he must have noticed, but I couldn't bear speaking to him any more. It was the first and last time we had any contact.
I just started a new job and the phone rang. So, I answered it. But I could not remember what company I was working for.... so I had to ask a coworker 'where am I working?' Very embarrasing
Said, "Okay! I love you! Bye!" to my doctor's receptionist after making an appointment.
Ha! I've been lucky enough never to have dome that, but I've heard of it before.
I did it but so everyone does it 2am when they are home alone, i typed random numbers into the phone and then played whats poppin into the phone. I dont know why they hung up
I really don't know either, lol. I would have definitely stayed on the call.
i called the wrong number and i thohgt i was talking to my aunt that lived down the street so when the girl on the other end said hi i said "can i come over to swim?" she said who are you looking for? i said my ants name and she said wrong number and hung up. i was just standing there like O_o
The caller ID said that the call was from my best friend's house. I answered as I always did when he called with a rude sounding "What do you want?". It turns out that the call was from his mom. She was looking for him. She was not in on the joke.
So some random person called and I answered it ( I know I know I should let it ring but curiosity got the best of me) answers this person asked "is this blah" to which I thought she said my name and I said yes and she said "where's randy" or some other name idk and I said ohhh you have the wrong number. This lady said well why did you have to be so rude and stuff. I didn't mean to!!
My classmate called me and when he said bye, I accidentally said "bye, love you!" like I usually do with my parents. Worst day of my life.
