First thing we do each yr. is put up Christmas lights. Maybe not on a tree ( until later ) but hanging them up anywhere. Over a lamp, on a window, or mirror. Creates the holiday mood with little effort.

And it has not been aired this year!! At least for people without streaming or premium channels. And the mean suits who moved Charlie Brown Christmas to a pay channel. Talk about Scrooge! So here's to you "Thank you very much. Thank you very much. That's the nicest thing that anyone's ever done for me!"

I make a beef stew in a slow cooker on a regular basis this time of year and it started off only being a winter thing because I just didn't want that kind of food in the summer but 1 of my children started liking it a lot so now it's this fun game we play where we have to decide if it's "cold enough" for beef stew at the beginning of each winter. :)

Thanks for sharing, I am making beef stew this tomorrow and didn't even think about using my slow cooker until I read your post. Great idea, thanks!

Seeing the mad glint in my wife's eye as she brings up tub after tub of ornaments, lights, and decorations. She begins chuckling to herself like an evil villain in a cartoon superhero show, and as soon as everything is on the main level, she whirls on me and commands, "Now! Make this house FESTIVE!" 🫣😱

    1) I get a $hitload of Glogg; it's the smell and taste of Christmas for me.

    2) Christmas ornament shopping! I didn't get back any of the ornaments from my childhood when my parents died, so I've had to build my collection over the years from the ground up. I'm still building it, but my tree gets more festive every year.

    3) I decorate the office. The military lets us decorate our office spaces during holidays (as long as it's not offensive, obviously), and since I detest that we work in a gray cubicle farm, I love having any excuse to splash color all over the place. Plus, it gets everyone I work with in the holiday spirit, and just makes everyone more cheerful in general.

Mine is pretty simple - Pentatonix Christmas albums and a cup of hot chocolate WITHOUT THE PEPPERMINT.

Do you guys like the peppermint candy cane or not? Because I hate the taste :0

The Christmas tree vendors are really the true start of the holidays in New York City. Sidewalks lined with the aromatic smell of fresh cut pine instantly puts me in the holiday spirit.

The school holiday celebrations. I love wearing pajamas, and either drinking hot cocoa and doing some easy worksheet/word search, or just watching a movie, and it's even better when it gets me out of math class.

Listening to Christmas music. I have a lot of Christmas CDs and I only listen to them from the end of November to the beginning of January, so I've got to try and fit them all in :-D

It used to be snow but it doesn't snow like it used to. So now it's the fresh breeze of cold air, shiny things and swedish wishing cookies
