A few years ago I bought my wife two expensive rose bushes. I thought I hit a home run with that gift. After I gave them to her, I was informed they were both dead and she, in fact, hates rose bushes. I usually do a good job with gifts, so my wife and two daughters enjoy teasing me about it every year.

Every single year. It's never a fail, but my mam always has something to complain about.

We ask what she wants, and she says something simple, nothing big. We get her a card and chocolates? She didn't want a pink card and wanted roses. We get her a non-pink card and roses? She wanted the card in Irish and white roses. We get her an Irish card and white roses? She didn't want a shop bought card and the roses should have been potted. We hand make a card in Irish and get her a potted white rose bush? She didn't want a card at all, the roses take too much to maintain, and guess what? She wanted chocolates.

It's a never-ending cycle of getting her what she asked for, and her picking out a fault.

I forgot to call Mom. She called to see if I was sick. I felt awful!
