What’s the hardest pet to take care of? It can be expensive, time-consuming, exotic, etc.

Well, my goats & donkeys are relatively easy. As long as they get their feed and plenty of room to play around, they're happy. If you stay on top of the mucking out, it doesn't take long.
The ducks are pretty much the same, except when it's nesting season. They keep running off into the woods to make a nest, which is a pain because they are too exposed to foxes there, so I have go find them and try to encourage them to nest on the Island in the middle of the pond.
My tortoise is easy to take care of. Although it does like to torment the dogs.

Fish!!!! Definitely the fish! They are nothing but aggravation! I don't know why I bothered!

Tropical sea fish are the worst.
Light, temperature, salinity, pH, algae, snails... You must be attentive to every single detail.
They need a huge aquarium to maintain an ecosystem and there is always something going bad.

Definitely one of the most difficult animals to take care of.

Australian Cattle Dogs (Heelers)
I had one and she was amazing, but was so time consuming and stubborn. She always had to be walked otherwise she was a menace, needed attention, and smart as hell so she got into a lot of trouble.
They also tend to be agressive and mine started to attack my two older dogs. Even sent the 13-year-old to emergency surgery (she's fine now, somehow. Don't know how that dog is still alive but she's happy as a clam).
Thankfully, we found a home for her that was able to take better care of her and give her the attention that she needs.
But man, she was a handful.

One that isn’t yours and someone else just decided they didn’t want anymore and you have to undo the psychological damage of.

We rescued a very elderly, arthritic & very needy chihuahua, who ended up having to have both eyes removed due to glaucoma, took heart medication, arthritis meds, had to have special (expensive) food, loved to be wrapped in warm blankets and MUST be cuddled 24/7. She was the most expensive animal I ever had. I would totally do it again. I miss her so much ♥️
