I never got sick with Covid-19’s and got my 2 shots of vaccine!
I was rejected for 31 proposals or marriage (arranged marriage). Family told me I won't get married unless I lose weight, no one will accept me.
I got married on 2nd January 2021, got pregnant in July, celebrating my first anniversary this week with a very loving and caring guy who is very good looking and smart.
I don't know if this belongs here, and it's probably not the best thing. But experiencing the effects of the Covid
virus helped me realize how serious it is, and the importance of staying safe, maintaining social distancing, and enjoying my solitude at home! I will no longer take my health for granted. I even stopped smoking!
The best thing that happened to me last year, was the lesson of humility. That wasn't my first lesson and I know it won't be my last. Ive had to learn this lesson off and on my entire life. Im always thankful for it. This time it came in the form of Covid. I have asthma, it took me ten days in the hospital to be cured. Im 62 and Ive never been hospitalized for anything. Appreciation, that was the lesson in humility this time. Im glad that I was paying attention and didn't miss it!
My students and I got greenlight for our social project. Approved by the school board and even the city council. Then raised 10'000 bucks, found converted shipping containers and a location.
After months of planning, getting everything legal and fundraising we reached our goal:
In November we opened a shop for people in need. All free - no questions asked.
Now - run by my current students and other classes and teachers - we run the shop twice a week. Serving 40-80 people each time. Providing them with food, beauty products, shoes, clothes, pet food etc.
Every person gets a full bag of veggies, a full bag of fruit and a full bag of bread and baked stuff. Plus - depends on availability - drinks, coffee, rice, pasta, chocolate etc.
Then in the non food container they can choose some clothes, toys and more.
We got enough support, sponsors and suppliers and funds to run it for a whole year in our community.
It's hard work on the days we're open. But a lot to learn - also socially - for my students. It's very rewarding. Seeing these folks leaving with full bags, a smile and enough food for 2-3 days. We're tired after closing for the day, but always happy with a good feeling in our hearts. Bring what you can - Take what you need. That's our motto.
Never felt better. And this project is the best thing that happened for me.
Hmmmmm…I’d say when I got our new kitty Sweetpea. She is a teacup and is only gonna weigh 5 pounds full grown
I made a lot of new friends. They're all so fun and interesting to be around. With a couple we actually started our relationships by annoying each other constantly, but now we annoy each other as friends lol. One of those people is actually my crush and he makes me very happy. Just sitting next to him makes me feel better if I'm having a bad day. I don't know if he likes me back yet, but now there's a whole new year to figure it out.
I got depression. The worst thing that happened to me tho is that December 2021 my gf broke up with me I got rejected 2 times and my parents hate me ):
I got twin Jack Russell puppies. I lost the last Jack of my first Jack pack in March and got these sweet boys in August.
I learned how to say NO wo any explanation. There'd be silence while they waited for the explanation and I let it be awkward. Best thing ever. My mil asked me to dinner last night and I said no. That's it. Everyone's used to me being accommodating but I'm not doing that anymore.
