My Dad was killed by a drunk driver in 1960 when I was 12 years old. I missed him terribly. I was in my 40s and very stressed out. I was lying in bed one afternoon just thinking of everything that was going on and worrying what we were going to do. I heard "Everything is going to be alright". I looked to my left and my Dad was lying next to me and telling me that "Everything is going to be alright" It was so peaceful. I completely relaxed and realized he was looking out for me. All my worries vanished and everything turned out alright. I am now 76 and have never forgotten that moment

OH MY GOD! Same happened to me, laying in bed one night, worrying about bills, buying kids uniforms etc and clear as you like my grandmother who has been dead a very long time, I just heard her say “Pen, it’s going to me ok, sleep” I was just happy to hear her voice, very comforting

When my friend, who claims to feel stuff, suddenly gasped saying she saw a figure sitting between us. She was surprised and a little shaken herself because this was the first time this happened to her (as it was for me obviously!). I had been thinking about a deceased relative the whole day and it was evening and we were in a sort of pub. I felt like it was my relative. She asked me, 'what do you feel right now?' I felt like my back was so hot but I told her, 'I don't know, why?' Her: 'the figure is stroking your back...'
The whole experience happened like.. half a minut? But it was definatly weird and I know she would pull tricks on me.

There have been a few instances that certainly spooked me. The most recent happened a couple of weeks ago. I was sitting quietly on my sofa, reading a book. Suddenly, the door to my vestibule slammed shut. The reason it really spooked me is that the door was already closed. All my windows were closed so it's not as though a gust of wind played with the door. And it WAS already closed! Tightly. I still don't know what to think about it, and I still get spooked every time I think about it.

When I was a kid someone pulled out a Ouija board, either the babysitter or my sisters friend. I dont recall participating I was only around 6 or 7 I believe, but I was in the room. That same night I got really sick with an extremely high fever, and I remember voices telling me to follow them. The next thing I remember was being woken up by my mom while I walked down our street in my nightgown in a trance. I was still out of it and couldnt speak my fever hadnt gotten worse and had to be rushed to the emergency room. To this day I dont even watch movies about possessions.

Call me superstitious, but there's nothing you could give me to make me f-ck around with a ouija board. That thing's sinister.

I've had many paranormal experiences since I can remember. When I met my boyfriend, he was a skeptic. I told him that if he hangs out with me long enough, I would make him a believer. I would tell him all kinds of stories and show him proof. One story I would talk about all the time was about a tall shadow man that's been around me since I was a kid. This would be followed by sleep paralysis and night terrors that he would wake me from. Even still, he would laugh it off and call my bluff. Fast forward to a year later, he moved in with me. One night, he fell asleep on the couch and moseyed his way to the bedroom around 3 AM. He then saw the tall shadow man, just as I described, top hat and all standing in my bedroom door way. Like he was watching me sleep. Shaken up from what he's seeing, he ran through the shadow man, climbed under the sheets and held me until he disappeared. We haven't seen the shadow man since we moved provinces. The paranormal experiences haven't stopped. Just the encounter with the shadow man.

Yeah, I’ve heard of some houses having sleep paralysis demons, and the experiences stop one you move. I was just about to suggest moving before I read the rest of your story.

This wasn't what made me a believer, that was just reading about paranormal things. But this is the only paranormal experience I can remember happening to me:
Me and my family were on a nature hike somewhere (I can't remember where) and we walked past this grove of trees. I think it was early spring, because the trees had bright green leaves and flower buds. Anyway, a crud ton of vultures were sitting in this one tree, and I mean a LOT of vultures. I was naturally fascinated by animals, so I decided to see how close I could get to them. I'd say I was around ten feet away when they all flew away, and I was a bit disappointed, until I realized that one hadn't fled. I walked closer, and still, it didn't fly away.
Then I realized that this thing did not look like a vulture. It was too large, the size of an eagle, I'd say. It was either completely black or dark brown. It had no pink head, like the other vultures, and the feathers on its back stood up, as if something had ruffled them. I was super close, and probably could have touched it, but then my mom told me to come back.
I haven't seen it again, and I have no idea what it was. But why didn't it fly away?

Could be a bearded vulture? I've seen those in a zoo, they're ridicuously big and majestic as hell.

I had private 1 on 1 conversations late at night with my mother until I was 12-1/2. She died in a drowning accident when I was 4-1/2. The last conversation occurred the night before my dad remarried.

Halloween 2002. My friends and I were checking out an Urban Legend nearby in our city at a cemetery. At the time, I was really into Happy Faces. We had to get out of the vehicle to check on our friends driving ahead of us b/c the went over a hill. I was in the backseat driver's side, my wife at the time was in the middle, and friend x was behind the passenger's seat. I went to get out and on the OUTSIDE of my window was a scribbly drawn happy face like it was drawn by a child. The kicker is, the legend was if you drove at a certain speed down the road, you'd here a kid screaming for help and banging on your roof.

I remember being at a sleepover when I was around 8/9 years old and we thought it would be fun to play with my friend's mom's ouija board. It was fun at first and we were all giggling that, "You were moving the piece! No, you were!" At one point I looked up and I saw what was moving the piece and it wasn't any of my friends. I still remember it was humanoid, kind of featureless except for the eyes. Or maybe the eyes are just what I remember the most because they terrified me. They were black but not what you would think of as black eyes. Like a black void. A terrifying void. I ran back home right then and started banging on my door. My dad was shocked when he opened the door and saw me standing there in my PJs in the middle of the night. I wouldn't even go back to get my stuff. My mom had to. I never went into that friend's house again and although now I'll go into a house knowing there's a ouija board (I used to not be able to), you couldn't pay me enough to "play" with one.

At 17 three friends and I visited a road that was supposedly haunted by a headless motorcyclist. We had been sitting in the car just passed the footbridge where the accident had happened when I heard what I thought was an airplane but soon realized was a motorcycle sound. Then, behind us a single headlight came down the road at a weird speed. We begged the driver to get us out of there but he stalled the car. We were hysterical! Finally he got the car started and drove off as fast as he could. I watched as the light approached the footbridge and disappeared.

Val, this is the only way I can answer your question as I am blocked from commenting (got trolled to oblivion and there's no amnesty with BP). Mediums get whoever wants to communicate. We set up boundary conditions and protection through prayer so we only get those coming in love. You can't demand, only ask politely, same as with fleshly people. We don't do that seance stuff like you see in the movies! Spirits aren't horrible either like movie ghosts, at least not the ones I get. All that stuff is sheer rubbish. I might see in my mind's eye or as if projected out there, like over someone's head or shoulder. That's clairvoyance, which is one of the three main modes of getting information. Please leave ouija boards alone unless you really know what you're doing. Spirit is around everywhere all the time. You may even have photographed one if you got an orb! Don't be scared but don't be gullible either. Love to all.

Just curious, how do you set up boundaries? Do you just ask God to protect you?

Believer? Definitely. My first near death/out of body experience happened as a toddler in hospital. My memory goes back to birth. I have had psychic experiences all my life, and have spent a great deal of it searching for answers. I am clairvoyant mainly. I trained as a medium in New Zealand and Australia, and now demonstrate in Spiritualist Churches plus teach. All my family has similar talents, and we share experiences and knowledge we have gained. It's nothing to be scared of - it's natural and normal.

How does that work? Do spirits just randomly come to you or do you have to call them? Real question.

I don't believe anything supernatural or any supreme beings.
However, I believe humans can understand each others' thoughts to a certain degree. If I look at someone in a crowd, that person knows this. (Maybe I stare like an ox, I don't know) Sometimes we understand people around us are not sincere or laughing at us inside. If we triggered some bad memory of them, we know some bad feeling we caused.
Science will explain this phenomenon someday.
By the way, in dark mode, this text is black on dark gray.

too many things to list here have made me realize that there are things that we don't understand or know enough about to think that there are not some other planes or energy entities around us. to me, it is not something i dwell on but when things happen i don't freak out....at least not too badly.
